LS7 or Bust!
[Summary - Terse]
Plan to Buy C6 Z06 between now and end of year.
[Intro Comedy] Hello everyone!
Been a lurker for only a couple years then finally joined days ago. I am a perfectionist and practically a recovered horder who has learned/ing to throw **** away.
[Out of Balance] Feel like I know several of you by now but you have no idea who I am.
[Sappy Story] I grew up with and was first a fan of the C3.
A family friend ended up south of the Denver area named Don Reed. Retired engineer, one of the coolest guys I ever knew, and a fiberglass repair and paint guy for local racers and many Corvette crashers. I don't remember if he always had the same C3 but that and his old yellow pickup is how I will always remember him. He always had someone else's Vette in his garage in varying states of repair.
He was kind a guardian angel or an adopted brother to my mom and seemed to always be there for her when she needed him. The point is: Corvette, the C3, has unique meaning.
[Time Travel]... Then to the 90s... Then Y2K
[Self Deprication] Not sure why I keep putting it off but current plan to buy something end of summer or start of winter 2023. Only V8 I have left now is in my '09 suburban which has the 6.0. I think it's kind of the LS2 but something derived from it.
[2023] Stare at screens all day so tough to dedicate more screen time but I will be lurking in the C6 Z06 section and maybe ask a question or two. "Current plan" is, rather than a new Z06, spend half the price on a used low mile Z06, with the LS7 and dump some money into that.
[Random] Apparently the old guy that owns the garage next to the field across the street has several old collectible Corvettes stashed inside. He shows up with his white truck and his son and his white truck from time to time to... Mow the grass, fix the rickety fence, not sure what else they do behind that fence in that garage but I never see a Vette.
[Outtro] I live in Colorado Springs (why i picked user: COS Z06) and I work in manufacturing software but I grew up working on my own cars/trucks out of necessity. I don't really want to work on my vehicles but once I get a Vette I might be too particular to let anyone else touch it. Hope to meet people here far and wide.
