Trying to get a C8 Z06...on a waiting list. This would be my first Corvette. My only other current Hi-perf car is a '69 Z28 clone with a 383/450HP engine. I did have a 2007 Mustang GT500 that was modified and dyno tested at 638 HP at the rear wheels, looking for a similar (or better) power feeling from the Z06. I sold the Mustang about a year ago....I bought it new and it had 19,000 miles on it when sold.
As background, I was an auto tech in the mid/late '80s, and was ASE certified in brakes/suspension/alignment. Left the profession after about 5 years experience, but retained a lot of the knowledge. I'm retired now.
I'll be asking some questions, appreciate your help and responses.
I know this is a Chevrolet forum, but just wanted to show the car I got rid of to make room for the Vette. 2007 GT500, 5.2L supercharged Coyote engine, modified with larger 2.3L Ford Racing supercharger, smaller upper pulley to raise boost, larger throttle body, cold air kit, aluminum driveshaft, driveshaft safety loops, Steeda Tri-ax shifter, and a few other goodies. Dyno tested at 638/625 at rear wheels before the larger throttle body...so probaby add 10 HP to that number. Bought new in 2007, had 19,000 miles on it when sold. I took it to the drag strip twice...I'm NOT an experienced driver and the best I could run was 12.2/122 mph....traction was definitely a problem even with drag radials set at 10 psi.
