Hello everyone! New here to the forum. Just bought my dream car about a month ago. 2001 C5 Corvette Base with the A4 4L60E transmission. It has 160k miles but about 80% of them are purely highway miles. It's been very well cared for and all regular maintenance has always been done. The car is 100% bone stock other than the drop in K&N air filter i just put in but that's not really much of a mod, lol. Ok well it does also have cross drilled and slotted rotors both front and and rear on it which are nice! The previous owner also did the Z06 rear brake cooler performance air intakes and yes they are real and fully functional plus they look great too! I plan on keeping it mainly stock. It's been my dream car since I was 17. I absolutely the the C5's! I really wanted a 6 speed but they are pretty hard to come by. I got a super good deal on this one. Only paid $7,500 for it! The reason I got it for such a good deal is because it does have a few issues and was sold as is so the dealer reduced thier asking price by $4,500. The problems it currently has are pretty common on the c5 vettes. So the service ABS, traction control and service active handling messages are appearing as well as the service TPMS message. I had my local Chevrolet dealers Corvette tech diagnose the issues and it came back the the abs/tc module needs to be replaced. It looks pretty easy to replace but they are kinda pricey. I think the dealer wanted like 1700 parts and labor. I'm pretty sure about 80% of the price is the cost of the part.
Anyways i had thier Corvette tech flush the transmission really well and change the trans filter. So now I'm running the best fluid! Nothing but Amsoil Synthetic Signature Series ATF and an AC Delco trans filter. I'm a huge Amsoil guy i love the stuff! I also had him change the rear differential gear oil and fill it with Amsoil Synthetic 75w90 Severe Gear Oil and of course 4oz of slip lock limited slip additive. I would have done all this myself but these cars are damn near impossible to get underneath plus I don't have the trans flush/fluid exchange machine. I'm huge on preventive maintenance so next up is a good brake fluid flush with some Amsoil Synthetic Dot 4. Then a cooling system flush and I'll switch to probably a 180 degree thermostat and reprogram the PCM so the cooling fans come on alot sooner! This things from the factory run ways too damn hot!
Anyways good to be here! Thanks, Scott!
