Figured I would introduce myself. Long time Chevy owner, but first time owning a Corvette. Picked this up at an auction a few weeks ago, appears to have been abandoned for some time, but it's my project now. I'm sure I'll be here browsing and asking for advice.
Currently tackling the interior damage, fixed the ignition, and need a transmission before it'll drive. But otherwise, it's a sweet car and I'm excited to get it out on the road.
Photo from when I first got it home. It's since been washed, and brought inside. Not currently running.
Welcome! Before I got down to the picture of your car and as I was reading your description, I had a picture in mind of some horrid looking shell of a Corvette. From the outside, it really looks nice. Your model is probably my favorite of the late C3s. Enjoy the journey. I’ve always loved this picture of a year similar to yours that someone posted on the Forum.
It’s come a long way since I brought it home! It’s a complete car, exterior is actually in fairly decent shape with some very minor dings, but it had a lot of rain damage from sitting for so long with the t tops unlatched and the passenger window open. Interior was a complete loss. I’ve had a small heater and dehumidifier running in it for about 3 weeks now, and I pulled the front carpet and I actually just finished prepping the passenger side floor for sound dampening mat and carpet today. Photo of the interior, when I first bought the vehicle. There was standing water under both floor mats Passenger side, with two coats of paint. Ready for sound dampening mat and carpet I reused the vent panels and created my own center console pieces using fiber panel wood to attach my carpet kit to.
