Been a longtime non registered lurker as I’ve been eyeing getting a C6 ZO6 for some time now. Nothing against the other vettes but just like the look of the C6 wide body and the thought of a LS7 with a manual transmission. Figured these are some of the last “garage mechanic friendly” cars that put out a ton of performance. They sure have risen in price over the last few years since Covid but it’s my 50th and I’m treating myself!
Haven’t chosen the “one” yet but looking at a low mile 07 with some engine work done and has an A&A supercharger kit with methanol injection. I’ve driven fast cars before but nothing this fast as it is claimed to have 775 rwhp. There was another in the classifieds that I watched for a long time that recently sold, I should have jumped on it but I procrastinated and now am on the hunt for that next one. Not sure I need that much horsepower but excess can possibly curb the urge to keep modifying and chasing that next benchmark.
I'm sure I’ll see some of you around in the forums, and when I do buy my C6 I’ll update this thread with pics. And if anyone has any words of advice around buying a boosted LS7, I’m all ears. Thanks in advance!
2025 C8 Z06/7/E-Ray of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
Welcome aboard and glad to have you. Appreciate your thorough and informative introduction.
Modified or boosted vehicles can be a risk so just take caution and try to inspect it and get it professionally inspected alongside. Be prepared for replacement parts or even replacement motor or transmission and what have you. If you're willing to take the risk, then go for it. Take your time and even if one opportunity slips away there may be a better opportunity later on which may even fit you better perhaps.
Welcome... no apologies necessary.. many have their Corvette year they absolutely love. You gotta' do you who cares what anyone else thinks. Enjoy The Hunt
Update: got my Vette! 2007 ZO6 2LZ. Bought it with a little under 9,900 miles and drove it 1,000 miles home! Probably wasn’t the smartest thing I’ve ever done seeing I didn’t know the car and who knows what could have happened, but who cares as it was my 50th birthday present to myself and driving it on a road trip home was part of what I wanted.
The car pulls really hard and I haven’t even pushed it fully yet and revved it out. It drives like mild cam’d car in lower rpm but starts to come on really hard at about 3500 rpm. It was a surprisingly comfortable car to road trip in and cruised along nicely at 80 mph. I even hand calc’d the gas mileage and I was getting around 25-26 mpg! That’s impressive for a large displacement motor that is modified.
I did have some issues with it yesterday as I took it out on my first drive since getting back home. I’ll ask for help in another thread but I think it’s the MAF sensor as it’s throwing the code associated with it.
