Default Wanna C8?

Hello everyone from Virginia. I currently have a 2023 Mustang GT convertible, but have started looking for a gently used C8. Was going to look at one Thursday but everything I’ve read about the transmission issues has me a little scared. This one was a 2023 with 12,000 miles. Nice car but they didn’t do the transmission filter change until 9000 miles and my understanding was that could be an issue if you didn’t have it done between 7000 and 8000 miles. Anyhow, hope to find out a lot on here!!

Keep your mustang GT convertible with that 5.0 V8 Coyote engine. I let go of my 2022 GT premium and my kids are still upset with me for letting go of that car.

I think most people have a good overall experience with the c8 and most people don't have any major transmission issues or major reliability issues. I could be proven wrong but this is as far as I know.

You're welcome to still hang around and be a part of the community as we would love to have you. Lots of good information here to help you out with your decision down the line. No pressure.

Please feel free to post some pictures of that mustang GT if you get a chance.

I like that Superman combo with the exterior and interior. I think we have a few c8s with that combo as well.

Thats funny. First I’ve heard it called that. It’s a fun car- I just have an itch for a C8. The one I was supposed to go see in Northern Virginia was the about the same color as the Mustang.

@Noz34 I assume you did not join the forum just to hear that you should keep the Mustang. I have driven many a Mustang and they are indeed fun cars and definitely a nice option if you need a back seat for kids but a Corvette of any stripe is a completely different experience and for me the C8 is hands down the best Corvette ever. Statistically there is zero reason to not get one just because of worry about the DCT. If you do worry just make sure whatever used C8 you snag has had all maintenance done per the book (have a dealer pull the records to confirm) and is still under the 3/36 so you can get the GM Protection Plan for a reasonable price. Search the forum for the sources here. Just bought one for my 2023 and 9 years of coverage works out to $25/month. My brother pays $5-$6K apiece for one year of extended coverage on his exotics. Bonkers in my book but those cars are also very fun to drive but for me not so much fun to own.

Unfortunately if you have confirmed that the used car you mention did not have the DCT serviced in time. Will it be an issue down the road? Nobody knows so if you are the type that does not like to take chances just skip that one. There are plenty of used examples that will have had the service done as it should have been. Don't let the selling dealer tell you how the warranty is still in tact. They will say anything to sell a car and that buyer will be on their own with any problems that might arise. Good luck with your search and post up some photos when you find the right one for you.

Thanks. The odd thing is it’s a GM CPO. 100k drivetrain warranty. Another year bumper:bumper. I’m afraid GM may still have a conflict.

I would agree that if the DCT maintenance has not been done as required by the maintenance schedule, that could present a problem with future warranty coverage, regardless of what the selling dealer says. If it were me, I would keep looking for one that has had service according to the schedule.
