Just wanted to introduce myself. I’m finally ready to make the jump into Corvette ownership after years on the “other side.” I recently created this new account, though I was on the forum over a decade ago under the handle wan2play. Life got busy, and I stepped away from the car scene for a while but I’m back.

I’m in the Chicagoland area, and frequently spend time in South Carolina and Florida. I’ve been a “Ford guy” owned three Terminators, several B5 S4s, E55s, and I’m about to take over a ’91 Fox Body project with a 363 Ford Motorsports crate engine (replacing a cracked block) with a Vortech supercharger, fueling, full suspension, strengthened chassis, BBK, rear end, and a built drivetrain. No expense was spared by my late buddy Mike (RIP). It’s 90% complete and will remain a sentimental side project, but after downsizing the garage (building a larger one) and recently finishing a custom home build, the itch is back and I’m ready for something new.

Over the last year, I strongly considered building a Pro Touring Gen 1 Camaro with an LT4 or LS7 swap. But after weighing everything, I’ve shifted focus to something I’ve always admired: the Corvette.

I’ve been torn between a C6 Z06 (2011–2013) and a C7 Z06, and I’ve done a ton of research on both. I’m well versed in the LS7 and LT4 platforms two of the best on the planet. I love the mechanical rawness of the C6, but the refinement and aggressive styling of the C7 make it hard to resist.

Outside of the newer technological advancement, really pulling me toward the C7 Z06 is the color palette. I’m especially drawn to:

• Admiral Blue
• Night Race Blue
• Cyber Gray Metallic
• Watkins Glen Gray
• Shark Gray Metallic
• And of course, Black or White as classic fallback options

If the right C6 comes along, I’ll definitely consider it. Love the sound of a cam’s LS7. But I’m leaning heavily toward a C7 at this point, manual 7, well maintained, I welcome modifications (if completed by a reputable shop) and 3LZ with the Z07 package if possible. I’ll be posting a WTB thread soon once PM access unlocks. In the meantime, I’m reaching out to a few sellers and trying to get a feel for the current market.

Welcome back and best of luck in your quest. I hung out here for all of my years with a C5 without joining and finally joined when I returned to the world of Corvette with my C6. It sounds as if your foundation of knowledge is very sound and, to me at least, you have your sights set on two extremely viable targets. Enjoy your search wherever it takes you and keep us up to date on the, hopefully, successful results.

Not to jinx anything , but absolutely and totally. It is exactly what I had hoped for and more. The only reason that I sold my C5 was that I was hardly driving it. Some time away and a life altering health scare had me cruising through BaT while in bed to help pass the time. I saw the model that really resonated with me and the rest, as they say, is history. I did not buy it from BaT, but that’s where the seed germinated from. Again, best of luck in your search and if I can answer any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
