I just wanted to create an account to post a thank you to all the c3 Fourm contributors who’ve offered very helpful info as I begin my first corvette experience. Two weeks ago I bought a 1978 L82 with just 28k original miles (and only 3k since 1991!). It’s in great original condition, but it obviously needs maintenance, and this forum has already been a wonderful resource. I look forward to getting to know other c3 owners and learning from their expertise while adding my own experiences to maybe help others. -Mike
Ahh, yes. Some pics. The previous owners removed the smog equipment, installed a new alternator & brake master, and replaced all four brake calipers several years ago, but beyond that, this is pretty much untouched. The original paint shows some scratches/chips, but is in good shape overall. It drives very nice.
Like many here I’m sure, I always wanted a Corvette when I was kid growing up in the 1980s. Decades ago, my dad did full restorations of a ‘69 Firebird and a ‘66 Mustang, and those were amazing cars but sold years ago. Unfortunately, I did more watching than wrenching back then, but I’ve finally been able to gather enough time, space, and money to start this project. If I’m being completely honest, I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed lately with all the technology (e.g. AI, appliances that need WiFi, needing to download an app for everything) and have been nostalgic for things that are analog.
