I've been an enthusiast for years, but have never had the means to get into the Corvette community. I've finally gotten to the point that a Corvette is on the horizon. I have a company car for my daily driver, and I'm strictly interested in a weekend hobby. I am interested in a C5 or C6. I like the exterior styling of the C5 (I'm still a sucker for that hood and hidden headlights), and the interior of the C6. If I go with a C5, I would be interested in 2001-2004 due to the ABS controller issues on the earlier years. If I go with the C6, I'd be interested in the 2008+ for the mighty LS3. Manuals only. I'm interested in a weekend car I can tool around in, enjoy come curves and hills, partake in the occasional road trip with my wife or one of the kids, and visit the occasional car show. I had 2 del Sols in the distant past (pre-kids), and I miss the open-top motoring. My wife can drive a stick and she'd get some use out of it too. We would probably log about 2,000-3,500 miles a year.
I'm wary of ultra-low-mileage cars that have not had any of the trouble items replaced yet, and I'm a little wary of ultra-high-mileage cars that are just getting tired. Other than the ABS controllers, harmonic balancers, clutch, torque tube bearings, track abuse, or lack of service records, what else should I be concerned with?
