I recently brought home a stray…a 1982 Collector’s Edition. I’ve always wanted a C3 and so when I spotted this thing on FB Marketplace, I decided to take a look. It “ran when parked” and I knew right away that it needed me. The owner could no longer drive it due to medical issues…the driver’s side T-top blew off and he had lost the keys during a move so I couldn’t hear it run. I would go on to discover that even with the keys, i wouldn’t have been able to hear it run because the fuel pump/sender assembly was rusted to pieces in the bottom of the tank…thankfully i got the car for a good price and the body and bird cage are in good shape. The interior was in sad sad shape…but with a new pump and sender, a lock cylinder and several doses of elbow grease she fired right up!
Tires among other things are on order and I am wrenching every chance I get to restore this thing to cruising status!
