About Us

About

History
About a third of US households had access to the Internet in mid-1999, a time when it was considered to have become a mainstream means of communication. At the time, CorvetteForum.com already was six months old, having been established as a means for Corvette enthusiasts to keep in touch with one another in the early days of 1999. While other early Corvette sites believed subscription fees would be the way to maintain an Internet presence, the site’s founder believed a more viable approach would be to maintain a site free to users, supported by advertisers.

The premise proved valid and CorvetteForum, purchased by Internet Brands in 2007, now is the largest and most active site for Corvette enthusiasts in the world with 513,000 registered users and almost 52 million posts.

Today
CorvetteForum is a multifaceted media hub dedicated to America's Sports Car, aka the Chevrolet Corvette. With over 12M monthly page views, CorvetteForum divides its experience into two main arenas: user forums and editorial.

The forums serve as a gathering place for Corvette enthusiasts to ask technical questions, discuss the latest news, share information, and speculate about the future of their favorite brand. The conversations are the heart of the community, but the friendships formed through this mutual interest extend well beyond as our members frequently host meet-ups, charity drives, and more.

The editorial section publishes breaking news, automotive features and original content created by our award-winning staff of editors and freelance automotive journalists who represent decades of combined experience and expertise.

Ethical Standards
CorvetteForum editors and contributors strive to maintain the highest possible standard of journalistic ethics with a focus on objective news reporting, fact-checking (and formal corrections when needed), and original content creation, which includes citing of sources, proper photo and source accreditation and disclosure of sponsored posts or connections with advertisers or manufactures. This includes free or discounted products or services. From car detailing products to car parts to media drives, the content team also maintains objectivity when creating sponsored content. Our ad sales department can sell ads; the content team only recommends products or services that we genuinely endorse and have experience using.

On the forum side, an elite team of Corvette enthusiasts serve as forum administrators and moderators. Their job is to fairly enforce the official forum rules while maintaining a sense of community. The Internet can be a cold, cruel place, but our admins and mods work tirelessly to organize content accurately, prevent hostilities and spam, and remove toxic personalities who violate rules.

Jim is the lead administrator at Corvetteforum and has been active on the site since 1999. He got his first Corvette 40 years ago and would continue to own a Corvette even if they were slow and ugly because of the association it provides with others in the "Corvette Family." Fortunately, Corvettes are neither slow nor ugly. When he’s not on the Forum or driving a Corvette, he enjoys wildlife photography.

ShanMan14

Administrator

ShanMan14 has been with Corvetteforum forum more years than most millennials own skinny pants. A lifelong hockey fan, the moniker was contrived as an ode to NHL Hockey Hall of Famer, Brendan Shanahan. Kids, let this serve as a reminder that the online persona you choose in the moment, make stick with you longer than you think. What does this have to do with Corvettes? Nothing!

ShanMan14 was once the proud owner of a 1998 sparkling pewter C5 that eventually wound up on its side, totaled after a nasty run-in with some black ice. Occasionally you'll see his pewter beauty as his avatar. His passion for Corvettes never waned and after nearly two decades, is proud and privileged to still be part of the best Corvette discussion site on the internet.

While not as much a prolific poster as he once was, rest assured the duty and dedication remains. If you receive an email from our support team, it was probably him. If you see rainbows and unicorns, it was probably him too.

In 2004, he was appointed to the position of Moderator and in 2006, to the position of Administrator.

His passion for Corvettes started at an early age when his father bought a 1967 C2 and took him for a ride. He purchased his first Corvette a black coupe in 1996, and since then he has owned a 1996 Collector's Edition Convertible, a 1999 Silver Convertible, a 2007 Silver Convertible, a 2008 Silver Coupe and a 2014 Blade Silver Z51 Coupe.

When not on the forum, Jesse enjoys spending time with his family and his hobbies include playing golf and target shooting.

Before he was old enough to walk, his dad was taking him to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500. He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when Patrick was young, but by the time he was 16, he was ready to build him his first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. He spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with his dad by my side. While they live in different areas of the country, his dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when Patrick was 16 while he races other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

Although Patrick went to college for accounting, his time in his dad’s shop growing up allowed himthe knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point he worked in the office of a dealership group. While he was working in the accounting world, he continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, he began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

Ten years ago, he left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and he is living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life. He loves covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. He was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with his past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world providing him with a unique perspective of the industry.

His experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows him to push performance cars to their limit, while his role as a horse stable manager gives him vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

Being based on Detroit, he never misses the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit’s Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.

Derek Shiekhi's father raised him on cars. As a boy, Derek accompanied his dad as he bought classics such as post-WWII GM trucks and early Ford Mustang convertibles.

After loving cars for years and getting a bachelor's degree in Business Management, Derek decided to get an associate degree in journalism. His networking put him in contact with the editor of the Austin-American Statesman newspaper, who hired him to write freelance about automotive culture and events in Austin, Texas in 2013. One particular story led to him getting a certificate for learning the foundations of road racing.

While watching TV with his parents one fateful evening, he saw a commercial that changed his life. In it, Jeep touted the Wrangler as the Texas Auto Writers Association's "SUV of Texas." Derek knew he had to join the organization if he was going to advance as an automotive writer. He joined the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) in 2014 and was fortunate to meet several nice people who connected him to the representatives of several automakers and the people who could give him access to press vehicles (the first one he ever got the keys to was a Lexus LX 570). He's now a regular at TAWA's two main events: the Texas Auto Roundup in the spring and the Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall.

Over the past several years, Derek has learned how to drive off-road in various four-wheel-drive SUVs (he even camped out for two nights in a Land Rover), and driven around various tracks in hot hatches, muscle cars, and exotics. Several of his pieces, including his article about the 2015 Ford F-150 being crowned TAWA's 2014 "Truck of Texas" and his review of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, have won awards in TAWA's annual Excellence in Craft Competition. In addition to writing for a variety of Internet Brands sites, including JK-Forum.com and Ford-Trucks.com, Derek also contributes to other outlets. He started There Will Be Cars on Instagram and Facebook to get even more automotive content out to fellow enthusiasts.
