Default Blackout tail lights

Any feedback on Colorado legality and overall safety (due to light reduction) on blackout/dark tinted tail lights? They look good to me, but...

Yesterday I saw a yellow/black vert outfitted as such in the S. Kipling area, but couldn't get around in traffic to catch up and talk with the driver.

I'm not sure about the legality of them, I think not legal, but kindof like the front plate.

BTW; I have a nine piece blackout set that I will sell, for a C-5, $35.00

I have not been around here long but I have had no issues. I have mine painted/tented. If you get an officer that is in a bad mood im sure he could push it.

I have blackouts on my front DRL, rear side markers, and backup lights. I have black louvers on my rear lights many due to the fact I do not want the brake lights covered. The last thing I want is some dumbass in a SUV running into me from behind while talking on the phone because my brake lights where not bright enough. I have not had any problems with the blackouts I do have.

This is correct, and also includes the reflector.

Your best bet is to put the blackouts on, then at night back away 500 feet with the lights off and take a picture using the camera's flash.

If in the picture you can not see the reflector shining back at you, you've got a problem.

Thanks folks. Since I'm not running a front plate, maybe I shouldn't add to the list of infractions for which I could be ticketed.
