Default How much did it cost for the tags on your vettes?

I really hate how much Colorado charges for registration. I haven't even gone in yet to see how much tags are going to be. How much were they on your new Vettes? Regular vs. vanity if any of you have vanity plates.

Also, throw me some good suggestions for a vanity plate. I might have to do one on the Vette.

Hi, My tags on my new VY 08 Coupe were $971.00 last January. Ouch! As far as vanity plates there is a list on this forum somewhere showing all vanity plates that owners have volunteered to list. You could get some great ideas there? Thy a search for vanity plates. Donn

We moved back to the Springs from Boise. I registered the 2000 coupe in Aug 2007 and paid $237.25 which included $50 for a Vietnam Veteran plate. This year, I received the renewal and it is $84.83. I don't know why such a difference and I'm not asking. I found it interesting when I called in '07 to ask how they figured the registration costs, they told me it was too complicated to explain and I'd just have to come in and register. When I got my new registration, all the costs were broken out...don't know why they think its so complex. ???

The cost is based on a few things, the "License Fee" is based off of the weight and type of vehicle. The "Ownership Taxes" are calculated on the year the car was made and the original taxable value. This goes down each year for the first 4 years, stays the same for the next 5 years and drops to a minimum from the 10th year on.

The personalized plate cost $85 for the initial application and $50 to renew it each year.

That is going to hurt. My 09 was build yesterday, so she should be here in a week or two. Not looking forward to paying a grand in registration fees though......

If you go to the county assessors website there should be something on there on how it's calculated so you can get an idea of how much it will be or at least within a few $$. I figured it out on my truck and it was only a buck or two off.

So here's what I'm thinking. My temp tags expire September 30th. Lets just say I wait until January to register it. Think I'd get the second year rate then?

Ha ha you wish you will end up paying more because you will pay for the taxes for the previous months and for a whole year.

Mine on my 06 the first time (car was used and about a year old) were 885. This last year they were 7xx.

Some of my more recent ones.

My Vipers were 2300
My SRT-10 Ram was 1600
The ZO6 were 900
The 02 Vette Vert was 1400
The Denali was 900 w/ a 300.00 credit

Granted, I am paying tax along with them (execpt for the denali it's leased) because they were cash sales, but still tags in CO are Hi.

I would HATE to add up what I have paid in 13 years on 40+ cars for just tax and plates.

My 99' was $70
my 81' was $50
both of them renewed yesterday, the 99' cost more because of personalized plates

-Justin

BTW>>>>> I licensed 5 cars, 1 motorhome, and 1 trailer and it cost me $385.00.

I wish it was as cheap as South Dakota, but in Nebraska it is not cheap!
License and registration, plus Tax. They can not forget that, it was $2000
and then it starts all over next year with Property tax on the vehicle.

So i guess the other figures don't sound that Bad.
