Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76
I'll take it! I'm going to take a day off, head out that morning, and pay up my $90 for an afternoon at the track.
Anyone else interested?
I'll have to see how the week goes and if I can free up Friday afternoon. I'll follow this thread during the week.
Let's see...
A beautiful spring day...
A brand new track...
The sound of revving engines, squealing tires, and after market exhaust...
The smell of gasoline, oil, burning rubber, overheated brakes, and coolant...
Sitting in the hot pits, your adrenaline flowing, in your big, bada$$ Corvette...
Flying down the back straight at obscene speeds...
And what, you wanna work?

There are a number of SCCA time trail participants who'll be out having some fun, and many others to. Surely I won't be the only Vette?

Just a couple of Vette's at the track...
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I'm reeeeeally liking this track. Each time I went out yesterday, I worked on different corners. Of course that last session sucked a bit with the long partial-course yellow - it was hard to get a rythym going.
Gordon - good luck with your upcoming SCCA event at HPR.

Gordon & I were among the minority at HPR yesterday - not only with our Corvettes, but with street tires. We shared the track with all sorts of cars - open wheeled racers, dedicated race Porsches, and plenty of other P-cars and Bimmers on race rubber. (The PCA is having an event at HPR today and tomorrow and that might explain the glut of Porsches).
Four hours of open track time in the afternoon - run whenever and for as long as you want. Passing allowed everywhere including corners. With the wide variety of cars out there you really had to watch your mirrors. A whole lotta fun for $90!
I'd never been on the track at HPR, and had no instruction. My orientation was the track manager walking me around the track on a large map. Were it not for all I've learned I would have had to just get off the track as I would have had no business being out there. Instead I had more fun than should be legal

I would encourage anyone with a Vette to take it to HPR, but if you've never been on a track I'd strongly recommend you at least do an HPDE out there before you come out on a Friday.
