Default Engine builder in Denver area

I am currently in Afghanistan. I get home from my deployment around September, and want to inject some more power out of my 68 Corvette. I am looking for 420-450hp out of a 383ci engine. I would like a hydro roller cam instead of a flat tappet. I am shooting for a CR of 10-10.5 using aluminum heads. The car will spend most of its time on the street, so I don't want an extremely aggressive cam that will screw me over on manifold vacuum. It will probably make 15-20 passes on the strip a year. I was looking at all the big sites like Summit and Jegs, but didnt find anything in my price range that had good reviews from current owners, so I figured the best way to go was with a local shop. I have emailed several shops since I cant easily call from here. It has been 4 days, and I have only received one reply, but he is dead set on building a 400ci small block with nitro, not exactly what im looking for. Does anyone know of a good shop that could build a long block?

Sorry I did not see your post earlier.

you NEED to Contact Rod Dewild ( nitrous Junkie here on the forums)

He builds his own SB2 drag motors, he builds LSX motors in his sleep including my completely forged LS7 in my 2008 C6Z.

No big shop, no big billd, no big deal for him...PM'ed you his contact number and mine.

If you over there serving our country....Thank you!

I know you want a 383, BUT for those looking for a BB, look no futher than Colorado Springs!

Please consider:

I had some questions concerning fit in a 65...
1. Valve cover fit
2. Alum head to stock exhaust manifold fit.
3. Correct clutch boss.
4. Overall look.

In the end, a well-endorsed crate engine supplier was found who uses:
1. Extreme expert porting of certain GM iron heads.
2. Zero cam failures due to precision fit of every part and proper break-in run.
3. 467 CI to make up for loss of power on today's 92 octane fuel.
4. 9.1:1 compression ratio for octane reasons.
5. 500 HP at 5700 RPM, 565 Torque (at lower RPM).
6. Both correct cluch bosses.
7. Stock BB valve covers fit under brake booster (they are dented in factory on driver's side).
8. Factory 65 396 and 66/67 427 exhaust manifolds fit. Whole engine exact same dimensions and look as the 65-67 BB's. (I am not personally sure about 68 Vette fit.)
9. Iron heads give that old-school stock look. (Can you say "sleeper")
10. Very complete scope and attractive price (under $5k),
11. Strong warranty.
12. The company? VortecPro Performance Engines
13. Call Mark Jones for more info: (719) 650 -1609
14. A third party did a study on the company: Old School Iron and Horespower
15. Here is a typical image of their product (Mine will have painted valve covers in addition to chrome for 2 different looks; stock and custom.)

16. I get mine dyno run and engine on March 19th, 2011.
