I am in the middle of changing my harmonic balancer and timing chain on my 2002 z06. I wanted to know if anyone had a flywheel holding tool that I could rent.
Dale,
I'm thinking you're trying to get the nut off the balancer......by yourself
You probably don't have an air gun or can't get what you have in there.
I know this is old school but a long breaker bar and socket will do the trick.
Socket on nut
breaker bar on ground(garage floor)
TAP ignition key till it breaks.
Confusing?
stand in front of the car, engine spins clockwise. the breaker bar on the floor on the drivers side, tap key nut loosens.
now if the engine spun CCW then you'd put the bar on the passangers side.
Actually, I have the old one off. I am looking to get the new one on and to be able to torque it to spec with the tool that I am looking for. I not looking to do the 4th gear trick.
