Am looking for recomendations as to where I can find a good mechanic.shop.dealership. Any place that does good work and doesn't try to screw a person over. Looking for suggestions for tuning, to body work, to detailing paint, to major modifications. Someone that you guys and gals trust and take your car to. My ride is a comp yellow '95 LT1 auto and it means a lot to me. It's taken a long time to get this one and I want to do it right. Any suggestions appreciated. Looking in the Denver and surrounding area.
I need body work done also. Wet roads plus T/C-A/H turned off equals need body work done. Its covered with my car bra for now, but I would like to get it fixed by someone other than a dealer.
i like purifoy in ft. lupton. its about 25 miles north of denver but they have been selling vettes for 40 years. i have used their service dept and body shop and will not go anywhere else fwiw.

I have hear nothing but good things about them. It looks like I may have to drive a ways to get my stuff done right.
I know some people that have had some very bad experiences with Purifoy's bodyshop and service dept. One guy took his car in for an engine replacement and they wound up wrecking his 82 Collector car and then tried to tell him that it was that way when he brought it in.
For body shop stuff you can check out: http://motorsport-concepts.com Jarod is the owner and has several cars and trucks in the magazines with his work including my car. He's at the SEMA show this week though...
IM me if you want to know about places to avoid - I don't want to bash any of the local Vette shops as I know some of them post on here.
I have had nothing but good experience with Purifoy, and they have worked on all 3 of ours in one way or another. My wife's car was backed into when she wasn't around, and they replaced the bumper cover and painted the hood and fender so that you would never know. They also did some diagnostic work on my son's car for free (he's on a limited budget), and found a problem in our ZR-1 that 2 other shops (1 was another dealer) had no clue about.
I have a very good friend who works there, and based on his reports and my firsthand knowledge I believe that Rollie Purifoy is one of the most reputable dealers in the business.
Timmy, I would suggest that your acquaintance take up the issue with Rollie himself if he hasn't already.
He did take it up with Rollie himself and still wound up paying - there are others too but I am sure you can always find someone who hasn't had a good experience at a shop.
Midas @ 73rd and Federal. specifically a mehanic named GJ. hes an ASE master certified mechanic, and knows what he is doing. i take my typhoon and my vette to him. he got my friends near stock Talon TSi AWD intoi high 13s. he is a friend of mine, and i personally know that he would much rather do it right than have it come back.
if it helps he has a lifted 1400+hp alcohol burning blown 84 fullsize chevy P/U that he built himself and he recently crushed two hondas with it for a car show :D it killed the hondas no sweat. he also has his 712ci world industries powered 68 camaro he built, and he hasnt had problems with either one.
if you do talk to him, tell him Ben with the Typhoon sent you. (theres a couple Ben's in our group of friends :) )
Well, you're not going to find anyone in Denver that is the equivalent of MTI so I think you'd be pretty dissapointed with anyone that you go to around here.
i agree with Timmy...MTI seems to have a lot of corvette work in and have the proof to back it up?
I would say for paint jarod is the man he does sick trick stuff and is like tim said in mags for his work.
Wrenching there is a lot of good shops i had my 383 done by Keith from D&R head casting he is very good and loves to work on extreme cars...i know a ZR-1 he did and WOW that thing is nice and C5 he is doing the whole 427CI in those...i guess that is the hot thing now for the LS-1's?
