NOS Corvette Rumble Class Rules

Beech Bend Raceway - Bowling Green, KY - May 1-3, 2009
1st Annual C4/C5/C6 Corvette Shootout Event

CORVETTE RUMBLE (INDEX) CLASS:

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Chevrolet’s C4/C5/C6 Corvettes are one of the finest performance automobiles ever produced…period! NMCA’s C4/C5/C6 Shootout is designed to bring some of the coolest and fastest C4/C5/C6 Corvettes to race each other and find out who has the skills to take home the big prize. The Corvette Rumble class will pair 1984 and newer Corvettes, with widely varying ET and MPH potential, to compete against each other in an all-inclusive index-style format. The following are the rules for the Corvette Rumble class:

• For any 1984 and up Corvettes with factory type LS or LT based GM small block engine combinations only.
• Vehicles must have factory fuel injection or aftermarket fuel injection (no carburetion allowed).
• All races are on a .500 Pro Tree and in an index format.
• This will be an ALL RUN qualifying format.
• Vehicles are required to be stock appearing and stock bodied.
• Stock type independent rear suspension required. Replacing stock parts (axles, ring/pinion etc.) for strength and safety permitted.
• Mini tubs are allowed as long as vehicle has stock-type suspension as described above.
• DOT slicks and racing slicks permitted with a 12.00” (10.5W) maximum width. Drag radials are permitted in any size.
• All vehicles MUST pass NHRA safety inspection for ET and speed.
• A sportsman ladder will determine running order based off Saturday evenings qualifying round, closest to index without exceeding.
• Vehicles must be driven to staging and to scales, can be towed after scales.
• Vehicles are required to run sponsor decals.
• Delay boxes, cross-over boxes, or any “reaction-time related” electronic bracket racing aids prohibited in this class. Throttle stops and all related throttle-stop type accessories prohibited. Trans. brakes permitted.

CLASS DESIGNATIONS/INDEXES:

Following the completion of Friday and Saturday’s time runs each Corvette Rumble driver will be required to select an Index and officially submit it to the Event Coordinator prior to Saturday evening’s qualifying session. There will be a single qualifier Saturday evening to establish a qualifying order. In eliminations on Sunday morning a 32 or less car field will be laddered on a sportsman ladder. A 33 or greater car field is randomly paired until the field reaches 32 cars or less. When the field reaches 32 cars or less a sportsman ladder for the number of cars remaining will be used to pair the cars. Car placement on the ladder will be determined based on closest to index (without breaking out) for the last round that was randomly paired. If you fail to declare your index you will, automatically be put in the AA index.

Index classes are out lined as follows:

AA/CS 8.50
A/CS 9.00
B/CS 9.50
C/CS 10.00
D/CS 10.50
E/CS 11.00
