Whiskey, Anyone?
I know it doesn't officially start for a couple of weeks, but is anyone going this Saturday, just to hang out?

Yeah, but it's a trade off.
I'm sure it's better to live in tranquility down there on a daily basis, and come up here once in a while, than it is to live in this congested mess and get stuck on the GSP every time you want to go to (or come home from) the shore.

"Bennies" ???
Sandy Hook is nice when it isn't crowded - like during the week after work. When I worked in Jersey (i.e. North Jersey), I used to drive down there after work once in a while, because I had the car. I used to scoot out to Jones Beach, or up to Bear Mountain during the week, too.
Now that I commute to the city, I get home a lot later, and not having the car here is a limitation.

I know there's still a lot of traffic going north on the GSP past Exit 154 on a Sunday night.Actually, I was born and raised in the Bronx, and only moved to NJ a few years ago. ("What exit?"
) We always used to go to Long Island during beach season. My genetic programming still sends me there (Jones, Robert Moses, the Hamptons, Shelter Island, Montauk). I almost never go to Jersey beaches.

They really killed it for bikes at the Whiskey. Everyone used to park in the Fire Lane, but that's roped off now. They didn't set up a new spot.
