Some of you may remember my '88 yellow convertible, lovingly called "Lemon Peel". Alas, she went out of the garage when the GS came into my life. I heard that Lemon was back in this area (people who bought her live in North Adams, MA...far from the Boston area) at Baystate Motorsports in Malden, MA. My curiosity got the best of me yesterday so we took a ride up there to check her out.
It was not a pretty picture!! It's amazing how quickly a Corvette in virtually mint conditon can go downhill in 3 years. The weatherstripping was shot, nicks and dings everywhere, the black cloth top was in terrible condition, and I don't even want to tell you what the plastic back window looked like! The radio didn't work, clearcoating peeling off both side view mirrors, the entire inside had been coated with some sort of slick, greasy-looking "protectant"---yuck!
Sad to hear, Elaine.
On a happier note, the fellow in NJ who bought my 4-Star NCRS Bowtie black 82 sent me an email saying the car is still a show winner and plans to park with us at Carlisle.

Very sad.

Makes you want to never sell one again...............just keep them all
Indeed a sad story, it is depressing to find that vette that you took such great care of was adopted by someone that does not and the result.
For this reason:
-I have yet to sell a vehicle I purchased new
-I still have my 1980 kz1000 which I purchased new, still runs and looks great
-My 2001 c5 coupe purchased new will stay with me for as long as I am able to drive
-I have however had a few vehicles stolen and these are a different story
I am surprised that Baystate would carry a vette in that condition... Must of broken your heart...
Actually, it's not up for sale yet as it needs to have work done... needless to say! They knew the car from 3 years ago and foolishly believed the owner when he said it was in the same mint condition. Hopefully, it will come back to life soon!
