Easy Pickings...
...that's what we were. Driving the S/O's BMW home from a visit to her family in Locust Valley. Radar detector is muted because she doesn't like the noise from all the false alarms. Yeah, I know. So on the service road parallel to the LIE in East Hills...50 in a 30. DOH!@!@!
How much is this going to cost me? I haven't had a NY ticket in years. :o
We'll pray it is reasonable! Isn't the amount on the ticket? I got tagged for $140 on the LIE in Sufflolk a couple of months ago doing 80mph in the SUV! NY doesn't trade points with Connecticut - not sure about Mass. - good luck with yours.

PS: I've got family in Locust Valley too!
Actually the $ amount is not on the ticket, that's why I thought our NY peeps might be able to help out. Unless they're so well behaved that they've never had the experience.
Not.

Us speed??? No way!! I was brought up a good christian boy.
I used this guy to have both the fee and the points reduced when I got my infamous 101 in a 50 last year. I would have lost my license if he hadn't. I went from 11 points to 3 and I knocked off the last 3 with a defensive driving course. 50 in a 30 sounds like it might even get dismissed.

If youn look at the back, it lists the price (I think), bout add about $65.00 for processing fee's.

That's what confused me and why I asked - I'd expect the fees to be on the back if not on the front, but the back just has a section for pleading guilty or not guilty by mail. Guess I'll just call the number (East Hills Village Court) once the weekend is over - but had wondered if anyone knew from experience. Thanks, all.

sorry aobut your ticket. If they dont transfer points I would jsut pay it otherwise you might want to see if you can get it lowered.
BTW - did you have a word with the wife for having the radar on mute - kind of like carrying a gun without having bullets in it.
Yeah, as far as I know, NY and MA Registries don't communicate over points - just suspensions or revocations and possibly DUI? So I paid it. I suppose turnabout is fair play; I've gotten a pass a couple of times in the hometown as a local, when they would have ticketed someone from another town, and my wife has skated that way too.
And yes, she owes me, big time.

Sometimes I think we get lucky (use that word very loosely) that we don't have a points system in MA like other states do. There isn't a real good way to decide how many points in another state are worth how many steps in MA.

NY has had the points system how long? I recall when I switched from NY to MA license here in the early 70's the key was avoiding three speedings w/in 18 mos, but I don't recall points.
