In Cincinnati they have had a stupid e check since 96. 6 counties or so, and they are doing away with it on 1 December.
Just got a notice that mine is dow November for tags and I NEED an E Check.
It passed with no problem at all when I bought it and registered it, but this is like taking $20 bill and burning it in the middle of the street.
Taft is a friggin moron.

I was with you 100% until the last sentence. It was VoinOBitch that set this program in motion. Taft was handed the folder on his first day in the chair. Taft had no choice to impliment the damned e-crap.
And hwo about giving ol' Bob Shaft - some credit... he listened to the Ohio public and ended the program. (may of been the only thing he did right )
Also; my god man why haven't you gotten Collector plates for your Vette (which excludes it from E-Crap) ???
My 2002 (purchased July 2001) has never seen the inside of one of those tax collection stations.
Don't feel bad; the wifes Monte Carlo is due to be checked in October. Seems kinda foolish to continue on with these checks when the progam is to be scrapped anyways.
I truly believe that if the system had been setup to where those that passed got it for free (as a reward for keeping their cars running properly)... it wouldn't of been all that bad.

Wow, this is good news indeed as my Vette is registered in Summit Co and I've had to drive from SE NY to NE OH in the end of Feb every two years for that damn E-Check BS rather than do the mail order tab deal.
I gather the elimination of E-Check is state wide???
From what i could Google, looks like elimination in Dayton/Cincinnati area, Akron/Cleveland area will be renewed for 2 more years.
Yep; I heard that it wasn't ending state wide. My county never met the minimums for pollution to be in on E-Check. But the environ-mentalcases claimed most people in my county drove to Dayton everyday for their jobs. So we got lumped in with the bunch. But we finally go our way... the bitching, bickering, complaining worked !!!
