Went to Delaware and took the Lewes ferry to cape may NJ. It was a pleasant ride across the bay. Took my '04 into a gas station and an attendant came up and ask me if I wanted premium. I asked him if he was pumping my gas and he told me that there is NO self service in NJ. I asked him if I took the wrong road and wound up in the twilight zone. He said that there never was and probably never will be self service, so what's with that? He was getting ready to clean my windows with that squeegie(mispelled?) thing and I said no thanks. Then he spilled gas inside the gas compartment and down the side of the car, so he got a can of water and rinsed it off; then I got a cloth out to dry off the car.I can't believe that there is no self service there.
Theres self service when im getting gas. As soon as I get out and tell them i want 20 bucks supers, they have to walk away to type in the number so while they do that, Im already loading the pump in my tank. Then I stand there holding the nozzle until its done.
Sometimes i get the guys who get pissed if I dont let them do it. Those are the morons because they can still be paid while i do their work but they dont understand that. i sure did when I pumped gas for Amoco!

No self service in NJ EVER and I don't see it ever happening. The gasoline retailers association is so strong in NJ they will never allow it. (or you'll be sleeping with the fishes, if you know what I mean) I had gas stations in NJ in the mid 60's into the 80's and this was always a hot topic.

NJ and OR are the only states that I know of where it is against the law to pump your own gas.
I go to one station in my town where the owner loves my Vette and comes out to pump it himself. I undo the cap and hang it on the little hook, and I have one of those gas bibs I undo. He is always very careful not to spill a drop or try to squeeze too much in.
If I go to a station where they don't know me I always get out of the Vette and strike up a conversation, then they are more likely to be careful.

Don't you have homework?
Don't let me catch you posting here at 9:00 at night if you're going to wimp out on Sunday.
The service station that I use for my cars(4) and my bike, is the same one that I use for my 2 work vans. I guess since I spend so much there in fuel thay don't mind that I pump my own when filling the vettes. But normally in jersey they don't allow it. On the pkwy/turnpike they will not put fuel in your car if your facing the wrong direction, (if you pull around facing south, but are on the north bound side)even if no one else is in line
Who the hell wants to pump their own gas anyway? Its a pain to get out , pump it in, go inside and pay (especially in the winter) I think full service is great, and if you're lucky , you get your windows cleaned!
I go the a gas station near my house where the kid who pumps my gas ownes a supercharged ricer. He wants to move up to a Vette one of these days. So he is very careful with my baby.
Its true and its one of the reasons I never gas up in Jersey. One time, when I went to Wicked Weasel's BBQ party, I unfortunately forgot to top off the tank that day (I always fill it before going out of state). I stopped by a gas station nearby and tried to do it myself but the kid working there wouldn't let me. The kid at the station puts the nozzle in my tank and starts to lean against my quarter panel with his studded belt against my vette. I immediately yelled at him to get the f*** off the car. He jumped off and then I realized he was much bigger than me. Luckily, he felt embarrassed about it and didn't say anything else. I could never live in Jersey for that reason. (the insane emission and insurance premiums seal the deal).

I read about this in the paper. Was that you? Did you bite off his ear?

You have to be kidding. You sound like my wife. You pay at the pump anyway and waiting for Abdul to come out and pump I have waited for 5 minutes for this. It takes very little effort to pump your own gas. Windows cleaned? Have you seen the water they use. It is dirtier than puddle water.
They should have both self serve and full serve. I'll bet the self serve pumps would pump 3 times as much as the full serve.
Pumped, but cheap gas;
Jughandles;
Expensive auto insurance;
Mandatory front plates (though apparently mine's missing);
A never enforced "Keep Right, Pass Left" law;
and toll booths and speed traps every mile.
