After seeing all the press that Ferretti is getting here is my question. Are there any legal implications for the owners of the cars being videotaped at triple digit speeds. I didn't see any of the DVDs, but I understand that you can read some of the plates, and to bring the question a little closer to home. Are we at any risk when we post a picture where triple digits show up on the HUD? Thanks.

if you all don't give fjb 100 each then your all getting tickets and going to the slammer with bubba
I'm not FJB -- but the short answer is no. It is unlikely that any of the owners of those cars are going to get in any trouble, but they will no doubt, have their cars recognized should they ever be stopped. Certainly if 2 or more Ferraris are driving together through NYC, chances are they will be stopped. Stupid stuff like no front plate, tint, exhaust, which usually cops let slide will be imposed on them and they will get bs tickets.
I will tell you that the NYC Ferrari guys not on FerrariChat are PISSED. Many are even cancelling plans to go to events where Rob will be because they don't want their cars being in anymore videos.
If anything I think Rob would be open to litigation if a Ferrari owner wants his car out of the DVD and never signed a waiver.
In short, the worst you face is bad press. What I would do is if we plan to do a NYC spin again, I would encourage people to put on a front plate etc. I have a feeling that large groups of cars may be hit up come the spring.
My guess is that nothing can be done unless actaully caught in the act. It is not like robbing a store or killing someone on video.
They could always say the speedo is inaccurate thus showing a false number. It would be then up to the city to prove they were actually breaking the law.

This is all hearsay, but I have heard of units that would videotape drag racing events. They would then take these videos to the local district attorneys . At the direction of the D.A. , people have been arrested days after the event. Usually with a flat bed to take their car also.
I cant quote the violation of the law , if any. But, if the department gets it in their mind that these events are a nuisance. Then , thats exactly whats going to occur. We may or may not see undue attention from this publicity.
Is it gonna stop any of us from doing what we already are doing???? I highly doubt it.
I already get f**ked with by the State Troopers and the Local Police outside of NYC. I also get harassed by the local NYPD traffic cops in Manhattan. (Thanks Kia ED)!!!!!!!
I happen to like the concept of Undergroud Videos. Maybe if he would put some female flesh into his work, it would make it more enjoyable. But until he does, let the adrenanline rush thru your veins and be careful, very careful driving out there.
Just be careful, cause the car you hit might have your wife and kids in it!!!
(leave me the **** out of this, I am already getting hit on in PM land. You know who you are!!!!!!!!)
There is law, and then there is the practical enforcement of the law. I am not a lawyer (obviously), but I think we can all understand the concept of practical law enforcement. Basically, the idea is that police are reactive to crime. When a spike in crime goes up they address it. But for the most part, they are not going to enforce every single law on the books. This is why in the past stupid stuff like no front plate, tint, etc wouldn't warrant a second look by the NYPD. However, now if there is a notion that there are sportscars terrorizing the city and causing accidents and the such, I would assume it's safe to say that there will be a crack-down and generally less tolerance. Look, the reality is that the NYPD has alot more important things to do then focus on some bs like this. However, if people keep throwing it in their faces, eventually they will be forced to do something public. If Rob's video is viewed as a trend that needs to be addressed, who knows what they'll do. We could even see some "NECFNE NYPD Task Force Actually in all seriousness, we really could see some official order to take action. It's happened before, and I'm sure it will happen again.

Unless you get out of your car, point the camera at yourself, state your name and then point the camera at your license plate. Seeing triple digits on the HUD cannot prove who was driving and what make/model car you are in.
As for Nabbs' suggestion of putting on a front plate to cruise through NY..... LMAO!!!!!!
