Default Insurance ????

I just purchased my first Vette, a 92 Coupe. I added it to my Allstate policy, but am looking for some type of limited coverage. I have 4 other vehicles and 3 soon to be 4 drivers including me.

I plan on only using the Vette in nice weather for pleasure driving only. I tried Gundy, Leland and American Hobbyist. I did not qualify for G or L and AH is very slow in responding. Hopefully this is not their mode of operating. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks,
Al

I looked into that when I had my '92 coupe. I have AIG, and also 2 other vehicles. I'd have to start, stop coverage, and restart coverage, it was not much cheaper at all, I just had coverage year round. That was when I thought I was going to "winterize"or put the Vette in hibernation for winter! Now I drive year round. Anyway, it wasn't worth the pain. I was paying $1,100 / year, full coverage. BTW A couple hundred cheaper than GEICO!

Sneed doesn't get my anymore.

I had been with Sneed for the last ten years, 2 different Vettes. No claims, no tickets, no nothing, and I'm no teenager - ask anybody.

They just told me, "Thanks for your past business." They won't write a policy on the new car I'm getting on Saturday, because my DD is too old (it's a beater). It's the same friggin' DD that I've had since I started with them.

Yet, they had just renewed the policy on the 2 year old car I just traded in. They can't/won't explain that anomoly.

Allstate, who covers my DD quoted me an astronomical amount for the new car.

Now, I'm shopping for insurance.

Emm effers.

Wow, Tom, good luck. I've been with AIG for the last 6 years, really good rates, beats out Geico by a few hundred, i'm not sure if they're still writing new policies for NJ, but try, maybe they resumed.

Tom,
If you live in NJ or Eastern PA and are employed by a company that is recognized by them, New Jersey Manufacturers is the way to go. I've had them for 35 years and they can't be beaten.

The first year is more expensive than subsequent ones as you get a rebate check every December. The ampunt varies on how well they did the previous year.

The Vette was not much more than my trailblazer.

I looked into insurance too for my 93. I also have an 05 GMC diesel crewcab and through progressive, I pay 2200 a year for the truck and 600 for 6 months on the vette (april-october). They claim 600 is with the 2nd vehicle discount. I then spend 50 from october-april for fire and theft.

But I'm 23 which isn't helping...no tickets, no accidents....

Man, you guys pay a lot for insurance. I have my '01 Z06 fully covered and I pay $700 per year through Liberty Mutual, and I'm still in my (late) 30s.

I had Sneed for my 1st year because of the no mileage restriction. But I found that I barely scratched 5 ,000 mi...so I went with www.Americancollectorsinsurance.com with a 5,000 mi restriction this year ...they are cheaper...$198 in NJ was their minimum...I bumped up my coverage...cost me $240 for the year. Sneed was $380, no mileage restriction.
I don't see me putting a lot of mileage on this year so I went with American Collectors....otherwise SNEED gets my business.
ps...there are so many insurance co. for collector cars..check as many as you can....may be quite a bit of disparity in price.

Try Hagerty I have them. Before i had GMAC and was paying 1200 a tear on my 1990 now paying 372 a year full tort and a better policy i have on my 2005 pickup.WWW.hagerty.com 800-922-4050 and just so you no no milage restreactions but i can't use it for work and you have to have a daily driver. Also helps you premium if you have it locked inside and they will want some pics of it.It took about 2 weeks but to save 900 a year it's worth it good luck TBONE
