Default Ed, the bracket racer

Wicked Weasel, George, The Devil and I went to E'town for some time shots today. Great weather, and today was the day to be there, as you could have had as many runs as you wanted...no lines! All I can say is watch out CC fans, we might have a new bracket racer amongst us. After posting a respectable 13.07 is first time ever on the 1/4 mile, Ed proceeded to rip off 5 straight pasess at 12.8x seconds and 112-113 mph. That type of consistancy is amazing to me, considering he's never been on a drag strip before. With some practice on his RT's, this guy could really end up being a sleeper at the brackets. His 60's were also a reasonable 2.1-2.2 range, and considering he was on street tires and was launching soft, that's not bad at all. But again, the 60's were very consistant. If he get's himself some DR's I can see his 60's going down to the 1.7 range, which could easily translate to a 12.2x 1/4 mile time....pretty awesome for a basically stock car. Heck, he's a good enough driver that an 11.9 on a real good track day with DR's just might be possible.

I'll let the others chime in with their thoughts (I ran a mediocre 11.3x, but my motor is sick ), but I end this with a to the DVL.

Well I got up @ 7:30 pulled the Vette out and my sinus infection said no!

Killer times for Ed being it was his 1st outing. I have to say an 11.3 isn't to bad considering that your pony is sick but hopefully that'll be taken care of shortly.

Jay,

Too bad you couldn't join us. While it was cool, it wasn't bad as long as the wind wasn't blowing. the air temp's were probably in the low 40's, but in the sun it felt real nice.

I still can't get over how well Ed did. Bob and I were talking about it for quite awhile. He's a natural at this, as he knows his car well. Like I said, he'll need to practice the tree to get competitve, but given the consistancy of his car/driving, I think that will be a relatively easy thing for him to do.

Ed,

It's all about having fun, and that smile on your face today was priceless. I, on the otherhand, was not smiling when I proceeded to lock myself out of my car...with the engine running. That goodness for the track security guy and Bob as his guide...he managed to get the door unlocked without any damage.

Just got home after my extended ride. It was a lot of fun guys. And I agree at Ed's natural talents. My best, because I always launch too hard was a 12.845, Ed was always in the 12's. Simply amazing Ed, good work. Of course Wicked Weasel the Geneus were very inspiring and knowledgeable. There's always next week! Sunday morning might be a good time to meet.

Great day. Just got done cleaning the rims and putting the car away.

Looks like I made some type of mistake with my air pressure. I am not sure how yet and still hoping the front tire is losing air rather than me making a mistake.

I always come and set the tires to 38 up front and 18 in the rear. I did this and made my first pass. The right side back tire was 20psi, but the left side was like 28psi. I lowered both to 18psi again and ran the day that way.

Now the problem is my front tires. When I got home I noticed a low air warning for the front left tire. I checked and the tire was at 20psi while the other tire was at 40psi. I decided to take the fronts off, clean them and check for a nail, but I saw nothing stuck in the left tire.

As I cleaned the right I added air to the left and then rechecked. It looked ok when I got back. I am going to check it again in about 1/2 hour hoping the air is low otherwise I am really going to make sure that I check and recheck all my pressures prior to running (in other words I will be paranoid now).

BTW - 1.63 60s with 11.5x 1/4 at around 121 mph. Not bad since I only came out at 3K rpms. I still need to learn how to shift faster.

1 St run, I was trying to be cute, and not go into 4th :o

2nd run, I missed 3rd

3rd, 4th, 5th I was working on the 60' time

6th and 7th I started consentrating on the R/T

6th was my best run

7th was against an Evo MR, his 60' was 1.780 vs my 2.203. He had me by like 3-4 cars of the line, but his car mid down the field like bogged out, I caught up to him but he beat me by .003 at 102.42

I had so much fun........ can't wait to run you know who

7 runs is good for your money, you won't see that too often when things get busy. You will get 4 in.

I too think it would be very interesting. Of course, in order to get him there, we'll have to schedule a "cruise" first.
