Default TPS and valve stem caps

Ok this could possibly be the dumbest question ever posted but I am going to ask anyway. I am so new to the vette world and I have done a lot of research even before I bought the car and have not seen anything about this. I love my car and dont want to take any chances so here it is, I got my wheels and tires mounted and balanced the other day and the guy there tells me that I need some kind of special valve stem caps cause the regular ones will ruin the tps. Now I thought about it and I cannot come up with any reason as to why that would happen but none the less the guy seemed real sure so I figured I would ask you all. Please be nice and I have my flame suit on just in case lol. Is there any truth or can I just go to auto zone and get some chrome ones? Thanks, Patrick.

yes, you must go on ebay and buy the ones with the corvette logo on them I think there are 19.99, and they will aslo add 15 hp to your car...

btw reg valve stem caps will work fine. i have them on my car.. go to any tft "town fair tire" and ask for 4 crome valve stem caps. they will probley give them to you.

yeah I have been seeing that a lot of you guys are actually active in driving your cars which is awesome. I will deff have to get up with you guys in the near future. I got the wheels put on and the car and lowered it but have a question about the lower. I lowered the rear down to 2 threads left on the bolt which should be fine. And I lowered the front to about 1 1/4 inch from the leaf spring to the top of the bolt. My question is that the driver side bolt seemed to be already more exposed above the leaf spring than the passenger side, but I made them the same as per the directions I got from the net. Now the driver side wheel gap is more than the passenger side like I didnt lower it as much. Now I know I need to drive the car a little to let it all settle but does that seem normal to you cause it does not to me? Should I try and lower the driver side more until bot sides are equal or will it ballance it self out or better yet is it supposed to be like that for some reason? I am a little confused and this is now completely off topic so I hope some one reads this if they dont I will repost later. Thanks for any info,
Patrick

Did he also tell you that you need an elevator pass, or that you have to wear a beanie, or that only seniors could use Senior Walk?

Hi Patrick,

I just had my vette lowered by ECS and the first day and a couple of hundred miles, one side on the rear seemed to be lower than the other. After a few more days and miles, they evened out but its still settling. To me, it seemed weird that it would take so long to settle but from what I've read and from others who I've spoken to, it takes between a week to 2-3 weeks to fully settle so don't worry about it until after a week or two. Just drive the vette periodically, might not hurt to drive down some uneven roads to get the shocks moving. My front is already down an inch, the rear is only down half an inch.

Don't forget to get an alignment done once it settles as well so that your tires don't wear prematurely.

if you want to even out the car, you will have to have it 'corner balanced', each corner is on a scale and the car is adjusted, this is the real intention of the adjusters, 99% of people just use them to achieve a better look

hang out in the autocross section for more info on this, not required for dd

i use town fair tire in Avon for mounting/balancing 12;tire
alignment is $70, hunter dsp400

Thanks for the reply on my pm CT. I will try to do some racing this year at atuo cross and hopefully big track once this year. I was mainly lowering it for looks only since it handles well in stock form. I will give it a week or so to see what happens once it settles and work from there if there is a big difference. Thanks guys for all the help I hope to see you on the street this year.
