Default Carlisle next year?

I am thinking about booking for next year and would like to know where is the best place to stay? This year I was in New Cumberland, which was really nice but I could do without the 20 miles of travel each way. I'm not looking to be in a Motel 8 just so I can be one block from the fairgrounds but rather in a really nice place relatively close to the grounds and night life, if there is a night-life, other than on Second street in Harrisburg.

Good Luck! Should have booked in 05' for 07! Watch for last minute cancellations if you like rolling the dice.

Second street in Harrisburg is about the only city in the area with a night life. The holiday inn mechanicsburg has a nice bar club that get a good crowd.

I checked the website for that Holiday Inn and didn't see anything referenced about an onsite bar/club?

They have a sports bar and tiki deck, it has evolved over the years.

http://www.harrisburglegends.com/deck.htm

Legend’s at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg West has quickly become central PA’s largest sports focused dining, deck and club complex offering a variety of experiences for each age group.

For those of you with history in the Harrisburg area you might remember the complex as Wonderful Wanda’s, Smack Pappy’s, Margarita’s and Club One over the years. Legends has grown over the last three years, starting as the restaurant for the Holiday Inn to today where the entire complex has the Legends name, becoming popular to both hotel guests and the greater Harrisburg Community.

The complex is a four seasons experience offering the best in sports coverage with over 150 TV’s making sure everyone can see the game they came to see.

In the spring and summer the Deck at Legend’s opens with a burst of energy and excitement that includes deck VIP cabanas, California fireplaces, for you and your friends to enjoy a special deck concoction. Five volley ball courts offering both league and recreational play as well as the best interactive sport video, darts and billiards to challenge the inner-child.

We like what we have done this year and hope you will as well. If you have tried us before, try us again. If you have never given us a try there is no better time to see if Legend’s can become your place to relax after work and when you think of a very special night out.

See you at Legend’s where the fun and excitement never ends!

We stayed at the Comfort Inn Mechanicsburg, this year and this was one of the best we've stayed at for the show. We booked our rooms for 2007 sunday before we left. It is far enough out from the mess of traffic and has plenty of restuarants and bars close. We used 81 for our way in and out of the grounds...no traffic. 10-15 minutes to and from. The Holiday Innn is up the corner from there and has the sports bar and volleyball pits and beer pong tables now.

We made our own nightlife every night in the parking lot...we had a portable beer pong table, xm radio, 3 30 packs, Papa Johns pizza, and of course we all Corvette Crazy, so everyone in the hotel has the same interest. We even found a beer drive-thru this year about a mile from the Comfort Inn. We had a great time, as usual.

For 2007 we are thinking portable propane grill.

Now I'm confused. Is it the Holiday Inn in Mechanicsburg or Harrisburg?

I thinking of going myself, but staying at an out of town resort. Getting there may be part of the fun. Just a thought.
