Default Professional Detailing

Iam a new vette owner, 99 coupe navy blue and am looking to have my vehicle "profeesionally" detailed. There are some scratches and swirling that I would like to have taken care of and then I can maintain from there.
I am looking for recommended places that I could have this service done.

I reside in southeastern ct, but would be willing to travel.

You might try forum member "Craigster", he's done some work for forum members with great results. Craig is located on Long Island and is a terrific guy.

On a black car I would first clay, polish with Menzerna polishes, and seal with either Zaino or Blackfire. The polishing step on a black car is the most important in order for it to look perfect. I also tend to use Menzerna Intensive with a rotary at a low speed and then follow up with final polish via a porter cable polishing machine. Since the paint on a vette is so tough its best to use a rotary to really remove the scratches.

rickyrj1,

Here's a few pics of black to show what can be done:

I agree with TopNotch....Menzerna polishes are the way to go with Vette clearcoats. As far as final process for black cars, if the customer has no product affinity, Id recommend Z5Pro or Chemical Guys M-Seal as a sealant. Sealants tend to last longer and be more Anti-Static, which is vital for black in my opinion.

Many people prefer a carnuba based topper instead of a sealant, which gives a "slightly" more liquidy depth to solids, and is more easily repeated by the customer in between full details. The tradeoff is that carnubas contain oils. The oils do look deep and also fill and mask very minor imperfections, but also attract more dust and dirt. For carnuba product for black, I would use Clearkote Red Moose Glaze, followed by a high line carnuba like Pinncle Souveran, Nattys Blue, or Chemical Guys 5050, which is the most amazing carnuba wax Ive used.

To the list of natural waxes I would like to add Trade Secret. Everything we mentioned this morning can make enough people go nuts lol. Those pics are amazing by the way.

Wow, sounds like I may need to pay one of you guys a visit this spring.

I'm a card carrying member of the zaino zombie cult but I do have a few little swirl mark scratches that have accumulated over the years. Usually, with enough polish, they are very hard to spot but I'd like to just use a rotary to get everything out, then build a nice set of coats for that showcar look. Once the weather gets better, I'll have my vette professionally detailed.
