We've got quite a few road racers here in the northeast section. I will be at lime rock and at Watkins in the next couple of months. I believe Lime Rock is sold out now but you can still sign up for several other events throughout the year. Believe me, once you start, you'll get hooked!!!
How do I go about getting started? Are there any club's on long Island I can join? I very interested and want to start racing as soon as possible.
I post a ton of events that ECSracing will be at. It is nice to be with other vette owners especially ones that go all the time (I will be an instructor for vettes this year or next) . I am on the extreme side doing 15-20 track days per year, but we have many people like Alex who do 3-5 days per year.
There are no road racing track on LI. You can find autox stuff out there if you are into that.
There is also Spring Mountain driving school in Vegas that is a good place to learn the basics.
There is more info on our racing site www.ecsracing.com . feel free to contact me directly if you have any question (I will Pm my cell phone)

Man you got that right. Just bought track tires with ZO6 rims. I'm tagging at limerock and have 4 track days booked with PDA. My friend bought a truck, trailer and a whole lot of accys. Once you get started its not cheap but words can not describe the A to Z. Good Luck.
Check out Wicked, he has been around and knows the do's and don'ts.

Like I said, my friend really did buy some accy. He'll be right back, he's just out robbing a bank and will return shortly. George you have to get rid of the matching red ski mask. They will figure it out.

While that is true (The only road course on LI is half a golf course now) you can join LICOA and you will automatically become a member in EMRA who run Time Trials and wheel to wheel. Check out http://www.emraracing.org/ for more info
I am a 06 C-6 owner who also runs a OPW Formula V car in EMRA.They are a great bunch of people that know how to do grassroots wheel to wheel racing and time trials and make you feel very comfortable as a newby.I would suggest Skip Barber(I got my competition license thru them at Lime Rock or an equivelent school) One thing to remember going in is there is no insurance for wheel to wheel racing and you are responsible for your own damage no matter what. That being said it is the most fun you can have in an automobile.Well almost....lol....I also want to say HI to all on this forum as I bought my C-6 new in 06 and posted here briefly a couple of times but have had a busy year so haven't been on it recently but now I am back.I should start a seperate thread with a pic.
Lots of opportunities in the NE. In addition to the clubs listed above, there are some other great clubs that run at New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS), Lime Rock Park (LRP) Watkins Glen, Canadian tracks are COM and SCDA. You can learn alot by helping out a SCCA team, and that won't cost you a nickel and might get you a free lunch. A very large part of this sport is logistics and hanging out with someone who has been there and done that will help you alot. I will be instructing at all of the NHIS and some of the LRP events for SCDA and you are welcome to come up and I'll take you for a few laps in my C6Z at NHIS. Also, the Auto-x and roadrace section of this forum will be very informative for you. Feel free to call if you have any questions.
