I did some searching, found a 14 acre island for $40,000, but it would be too expensive to build on.
In addition the building expense, you gotta worry about the whole global warming, rising sea levels thing. 14 acres could turn out to be 4 acres in 20 years.

Don't worry you liberal fool....ethanol will save the world. Corn is the great savior!! Haven't you been watchin the news???
It'll reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and is less polluting.
It can't be as expensive as it is here.....since the building codes will be lax.
I only mean expensive in the sense that everything will have to be transported by boat or helicopter, plus running electricity out to the island etc.
The actual cost of builing wouldn't be as bad as here.
Also have to watch out for pirates.

Global warming doesn't exist, at least not in teh way these people today say it is.
The globe has been warming for millions of years, I guess nobody noticed until now.

My company had a presentation the other day by a company called Green products Inc. which specializes in environmentally friendly building materials, etc. They showed "An inconvenient truth" and served organic beer, tofu, veggie burgers and salad. I had never seen that movie before so I stuck around and watch it. In one scene, they explained global warming by using a clip from Futurama. Al Gore also spent quite a bit of time explaining how he felt after losing the 2000 election. What the hell did that have to do with global warming??

I saw that series on PBS, it was very well done and really makes you think about the reason things are the way they are now and how history could have been so drastically different.
Was that the famed global warming speech in NY on a record cold day???
Probably, it would have been funny if they had footnoted that at the bottom of the screen.
Not to get all political here but honestly, whether we are contributing to global warming or not, why the hell are all the environmental weenies focusing on making our lives miserable by making us get rid of our modern conveniences when, the best way to reduce C02 emissions is to kill all the hot air spewing politicians, lawyers (sorry Tom) and ecoterrorists.
Serious, why hasn't anyone looked at the 4.5 billion humans exhaling every 3 seconds as a source of C02 emissions??? The human population has exploded since the late 1800s, coincidentally when C02 emissions started rising.
