... that you get to sit on the computer and post all day?! I'm a technical recruiter, so I surf the net and different resume websites anyway. But what are you all doing on here all day long?

Yeah we do a lot of placements for pharmaceutical companies in Jersey, but we also have some clients out in MD like Sybase... we just had a Powerbuilder job out in Rockville, MD. Most of our business is focused in NJ though:)
Re: What does everyone do for a living.... (WS6 TransAm Girl)
I do computer help desk, at least until Aug 31st, 2002 when my position is being eliminated. :mad But, hopefully I can get a better job at that point, network admin sounds good! :D Any tips from the network admins here on what I should do to become a network admin? I don't really have any schooling, but will have 2 years help desk experience when I leave this job. I use Netware Admin daily for basic administration, so I have some idea what I'm doing, but I'm guessing I'll need some school to actually get hired somewhere. I may just go for desktop support or remote/vpn support though, since I do those things anyway here, I'm pretty qualified. Thanks for any advice. :)

System Administrator, not a glamourous job but someone has to be at those annoying techinal meetings. I'm usually the one that says that is not feasable or maybe in a few years the technology will be there. But it's not bad jack of all trades but master of none.

Billy- your next step would probably be to Desktop Support and then probably cross over into a Jr Administration position. Help Desk to Network Admin is a pretty big jump, most of the time people do the Desktop Support as a stepping stone. You are definately on the right track!!!

there should be a "part 2" to this question.
Is your boss aware of personal time spent on the computer and does he condon it??
I am a supervisor of a steel fabrication shop in a large precast/prestress concrete plant.
