Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my dad a year ago on my birthday. Try to take comfort in the fact that Nothing Beautiful in this world ever dies. Your dad will live on FOREVER in the memories of those who loved him. Promise it will get a little easier, you certainly will have bad days/good days. My prayers are with you and your family
Hang in there. I lost my Dad in August to prostate cancer. Still hard to believe sometimes. My Dad was a diehard NY Giants fan and infected me with the same passion at a very young age. I had bought tickets to a pre-season and regular season game last spring when he first really started not feeling well. We planned to go together to one of the games. The pre-season game was August 11th, many of my summer plans were altered as my Dad declined rapidly over the summer. I was pretty sure I was going to give away the tickets to the pre-season game. My Dad passed on the morning of August 10th. I know I don't have to tell you what it's like to really know your Dad is gone... after I stood up from the blow of losing my Dad, I said to myself.. "I'm going to the Giants game... that's exactly what my Dad would want". I spent August 11th in Giants stadium with my childhood friend (also a Giants nut) and our 2 youngest sons. It's kooky but the Giants postseason march and eventual Superbowl win really felt to me like Dad was pulling some strings with the big guy.
I picked up a book "Fatherloss" by Neil Chethik last summer and I found it helpful.
You will find that your Dad never really leaves you.
thanks everbody. It still amazes me how this corvette family is. My mom also sends her thanks... She was looking over my sholder and said, who are all those people. I explained what I did and she started telling me about 1964 when dad used to cruise with his vette buds... WOW the times they had in that 63 vert...
