Bought a '99 last fall, never had an issue. Thought I would brinbg it to the dealer anyway (last fall) and had the latest recall on the column lock done. Form that point on, no issues, can hear the clomun lock try to engage, but the locking pin is out. Last week, even with battery tender on it, kept having dead battery issues, so last night, went to SEARS and took out a small loan for thier Platinum DIe HArd and installed. No issues starting last night and today....but NOW---"Service Column Lock" shows up, no, the columnn does not lock, and the car runs fine. I hit the reset button, and goes away until next time I start it up.
What do I do next? Was removing/changing battery the culprit?
****EDIT**** just pulled the #25 fuse and now things appear to be normal, no more "Service Column Lock" message, and I can once again hear the column lock motor when pulling out the key....did I just fix this?
