Hello my fellow members and how are you! I am looking for a good set of used tires 275/35 or 285/35 18's. Don't want new ones right now. If anybody has a set lying around, shoot me a pm with a price and I'll swing and pick them up. These are going to be fronts for my newest creations! Already have the 335's for the rear! Thanks. Mark.
Not for nothing dude but why would you even consider used tires on your corvette. The risks far outway the benifits most people here take there cars upwards of 120 mph and up you trust someones used crap at those speeds? Your picking the wrong area to be thrifty in.

Are you being serious? So if the tires have been over 120 mph they are no good? If the tires have never been patched or plugged and have proper wear patterns they are perfectly acceptable.
Sorry, but I forgot to mention that have a set of four stock run flats and would be willing to split up the rears. They have about 6-7 32nds left. Send me a PM if interested and make me a reasonable offer.

You misunderstanding my point. First of all I didnt say if the tires were driven at 120mph there no good. I said most people with corvettes tend to take their cars in excess of speeds over 120mph and no I would not trust anyones used crap at those speeds. Agreed patched or pluged tires are not exceptable at those speeds. when a speed rated tire is repaired in any fashion it looses its speed rating designation. A used tire is what it is its a risk because you dont know what has happened to it. It may have substained impact damaged (POT HOLE OR CURB STRIKE) and look perfectley fine to the eye and can suddenley fail at low or high speed when its taxed. The same reason why is looses its speed rating when its repaired because you dont know if it has substained damage between plys of the belts or if the side wall has been compromised from low pressure, Now I'm Not questioning yours or any other drivers on Corvette forums capabilties but a catostrophic tire failure at 120 mph , "Hell lets say some on this forum are intertaining 150 mph TO 200 MPH" Are more the likley going to end up in a fatal crash. Remember all the media attention of all those people who died in crash and burns in Ford explorers with Firestone Wilderness tires, most of them were driveing at highway speeds and lost control. If you think your going to slow down the car and call roadside assitance for help your outright smoking some good stuff. I will defend my position this is not the area to be thrifty with a SUPER CAR. This adds to the coined phrase "The only thing cheap about a Corvette is the guy driveing it" I wonder if the boys over at NASCAR or INDY Would consider useing some good deal used Tires. In retrospect As we are all taking risks to ourselves and people around us when we take our cars to speeds of excess we should be responsible enough as corvette owners to not add to the risk but that just my opinion
I thank you for your helpful information on used tires. But I do get my tires inspected before installing them and have had numerous sets of rims and tire combinations on my Vette already! Yes, I am a wheel *****! Anyone else!!!
Thats fine if its been working for you "So far" just remember what I said unless your haveing Superman with x-ray vision inspect your tires a visual inspection cannot gaurantee that that the tire dose not have internal damage THE BEST TRAINED EYE CANNOT SEE THROUGH THE TIRE, The information I am given you is fact not opinion I base my facts on 20 years in the tire industry Judgeing by your avatar you are not soft harted on the pedal. You are playing with fire
