Not being a guinea pig. Everyone that has @ home has to upgrade with this transition kit or else their sytem will not work. @home has gone out of business and all subscribers have to change their email address from user@home.com to user@comcast.net. What I just found out is that everyone is sharing the same IP # now and the bandwidth is slower cause of the high traffic. Normally all subscribers have an individual ip# so this bandwidth loss could be a temporary thing until every one gets their own IP# assigned again.

Mike I had no choice but to upgrade because my connection died. Enjoy it while you can because eventually yours is going to cut off LOL!! There is no way they are going to have all subscribers use the same IP# so i think it will get faster once we get assigned our own #.

John transition kits should have been sent out to all customers with the notice...but if you didnt get it and you still have connection .....I wouldnt worry.

I did log on to my other pc that I didnt update and it worked fine. I might just install the old software and see if all is back to nromal before the new upgrade.

FYI to all:

Comcast bought out AT&T broadband service last week. :nonod: They may be undergoing a full system wide revamp. Im not suprised Comcast system got slower. They were horrible service to begin with. How can they handle AT&Ts network? They probably looked at the signed purchase contract and said, "Now what?"

My advice: Dump Comcast and go with Verizon DSL. :hat Better price better performace/support

As of tonight, here is their current route propogation, from central jersey:

I believe ALTER.NET (Which is owned by MCI) still has the backbone. The small ATT hops, are just local phone closets, in Philly and NYC.

After an hour of attempting to get useful information from tech support, I got the f***ing idiot to give me the IP address and DHCP info I needed....you don't realize how quick the cable modem is until you have to use dialup!
