Your credit card company should have reversed the charges right away. Did you present them with the confimation of cancellation? Id get a new CC company right away as well.
The credit collection company needs to accept the cancellation confirmation as well. You can send that info the credit reporting agencies also and have that removed.

Yes, everything is in writing.
Thats why I am pissed at Bank America as well..
Not only did they NOT immediately suspend the charges they knew were not valid, they continue to keep them on, pile up late fees & then turm me over..
Their rep, had the paperwork from Cavalier that the account was closed, but the excuse I got was nothing could be done until Cavalier themselves reversed the billing..
Thats why I am pissed at Bank America as well..

I would go to a district court, and file suit to recover the charges from Cavalier.
They will have to have their attorney go to the hearing.
Bring all documentation with you.
