Default NJ State Inspection

Does anyone know if they lift a corvette to check the front end? Does anyone take their vette to State Inspection or do you end up with a destroyed car?

Do yourself a favor and go to a private facility.

Well, I've been taking all of our vehicles through the Deptford,NJ 08096 State Inspection Station since I was 17 and have had no problems to date. Now where did I put that piece of wood to knock on.

I Just went through the Millville facility and they did not lift the car but the guy that was inspecting it cracked my door sill as he was getting out of the car! Im in the middle of getting DMV to pay for the replacement! I would go to a private facility if I had to do it again!

Not sure I understand. Why would they lift the front end?

I've taken mine through the Cherry Hill inspection center, and they've never lifted the car.

Are you talking about shocks? If so, they drive it on a slightly raised area (1" maybe....and it's the length of the whole car, not just the front) and shake it, but that's about it.

They did that on older cars to check the front end, make sure nothing is loose or getting ready to give. I use Cherry Hill also

I have been to the facilites in Deptford, Cherry Hill, Lumberton, and the one near Hammonton (town begins with an "A") and heave never had an issue with damage. The guys at the last facility saw me pull up and said if you do a burnout we'll pass you.

Just have all you ducks in-line as some of the workers there can be complete a-holes with a power trip. I showed up 15 minutes before they closed with 5 cars coming after me. When they called me over they told me I failed because my insurance card was for the State of Virginia. I told them I must have handed them the wrong one and had the other in the glove box and they said sorry we are now closed....******!

OMG !! don't even consider going to a State Inspection Station. There are more clowns there than at the Big Apple Circus.I take my car to a local tire shop which does inspections, and other car repairs. They run a coupon special from time to time for $49 for the inspection, and it's worth every penny to me to have a "car person" look at my car instead of the state morons.

At the Eatontown Rt 36 (exit 105 of the PW) facility they drive the car onto shakers that determine ( I guess) the tightness of the front and rear end suspension. It seems to check the front end and then shakes the backend. No lifting involved.

I took my '64 to Lawrenceville this spring, no problem. The guys working on the line I was on were car guys. They spent more time looking than inspecting. I talked with them briefly, opened the hood so they could see the new engine etc. and I was good to go.

I've always had my cars and bikes treated with respect at the Baker's Basin, Lawrenceville NJ inspection facility. The Corvette was no exception.
