Default NYC peeps look inside!

I'm going to be taking the lady into the city for a horse-and-buggy ride through central park and want to take her to a nice upscale Italian restaurant afterwords. How late do the buggy rides continue and are there any reccomendations on a nice Italian place nearby? Thanks in advance!

Edit: As far as budget I'd like to keep the dinner under $100 for the two of us, but slightly over that is fine if the place is worth it.

I think the buggy rides end at 10 PM. In terms of restaurants -- lots of choices near the park, but you may have a hard time sticking to your budget of $100.
This is the best italian restaurant near the park...I love going here.

Thanks... wasn't sure exactly what the prices are but if I gotta pay $100/person that's not an issue. Unfortunately there's nothing available at Felidia for Valentine's day... any other reccomendations?

try scalini fideli or Avoce
The time warner center has some really good places....
Also, you can try Tavern on the Green -- it's a nice romantic place.

If you are planning this for VD you better book now, and you might blow your budget on the carriage ride, so rays is looking better for you http://www.ajnfineart.com/mcc.html

Most restuarants have price fixe menus on Valentine's Day. Tavern on the Green's is $150 per person.

And this year VD is on a Saturday, typically a busy night for restaurants, etc...

You might want to try Carmine's if you want great food and good value. There are two. Both are pretty much the same. The one on 44th gets more tourists, I usually go to the one uptown on Broadway. Not a romantic type place, but you'll enjoy the food.
We also really like Barbetta on West 46th. It's the oldest Italian Restaurant in the City and has a great wine list. It will be much more expensive though.

I gotta give a second vote on Barbetta. Very nice!

Italian near CP: without a doubt Basso 56, on 56th between 7th & 8th.

Unbelievably unbelievably good food, and well-priced. You won't have a problem being under $100 for the both of you, even if you both have a glass of wine. If you get a bottle, well...

Pastas are homemade, tiramisu is surreal--I've never had a bad meal there. Never.

Oh and if you like calamari, get the calamari appetizer. Two huge, luscious, sweet whole calamari grilled and served over a bed of arugula... Easily shared. I get this every time I go.

I'm a huge fan, been there many times. Best deal on earth is their prix fixe lunch--appetizer, entree, coffee for $19.

Have fun on the carriage ride in CP. That's where I proposed to my wife....

FYI -

- Carriage horses cannot be worked when the temperature reaches 18 degrees and below.

- Horses are prohibited from working during "adverse weather conditions," which means any condition that is hazardous to the health and safety of the horse, driver or the public. This includes, but is not limited to, ice, snow, heavy rain and other slippery conditions.

Just something to keep in mind with the winter that we have been having.

With your true love there should not be a price tag.

Besides- the higher you spend for her the more "positions" will be available to you at the end of the night
