So I am just driving home after getting a burger and sundae, tunes are on, windows open, lovin' life.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see something coming, so I brake hard and pull to the right.
A good sized doe slams broadside into the drivers door, gains footing and runs back into the woods.
I pull over and, whew!, nothing but a few deer hairs stuck to the door and the mirror had closed in. Not a scratch or crack...I re-adjusted the mirror and off I went.
Gotta love country living.

Freakin Bastages.
I had one slam into the side of mine as well a few years back but in the end I gained a full paint job for the 500.00 deductable.

Good to hear that there was no damage!!

I had the same situation, a deer ran right into my Avalanche drives fender and broke off a piece of the lower cladding.

The deer in my area are out of control. There are so many now they destroy any landscape that isn't fenced in and there are dead deer on nearly every street. On my 3 mile ride to the highway for work in the morning, I see 1 or 2 every mile.

Dave you were lucky. I had one that jumped onto the hood of my Acura and did a good job on it. Afterwards she/he kept running. The hood had to be replaced.

You're lucky. A good sized deer can do alot of damage. I had a similar experience years ago. I saw my lights reflecting in the eyes of a deer alongside the road late at night. I just knew it was going to run in front of me, so I hit the brakes. I was going 50mph (the speed limit), and got down to about 10-15 before I hit it. I knocked it down, but no damage to either of us, except for my heart almost going through my shirt.
Stay safe, and switch from beef to venison burgers. Thin the herd.

Win - Win - Win
Your OK, the car is OK and apparently the deer is OK.

Stop taking risks, paint it yellow and the deer will run away from it instead of into it.
(Some humans run away from yellow too.)

Thanks. Yep, it was in the Vette. I really expected a crack, or something. Made it unscathed...and I am glad the deer is ok, too.

Several years ago I had a deer jump up over a guard rail right in the front of my car. Luckily it wasn't either of the Vettes. It was an old beater that I hit the deer with at 55 mph and it totalled my car. I actually made out because I got 3 grand for a $1500 car.

I'm hearin' (and seein') way too many deer encounters as of late, even here in Pestville,NJ 08093. If this crap isn't addressed soon I'll be lookin' for a deer whistle the size of a 55 gallon drum! I especially feel vulnerable in the Vette cuz I would imagine if I hit one dead center with the C5 emblem it'll break the inside mirror off on the way in!

Let's all be careful out there.
