If you have glass coverage........call Safelite direct and let THEM deal with the insurance company....they will submit it direct and verify coverage and either come to you or you can go to them. Excellent to deal with......I've had chips repaired and had a windshield replaced on my brand new car five days after I got it
I had a few chips went to the auto parts store and bought chip repair kit. I tested on my wife's audi that had a chip and it worked great. I then filled in some of the small chips in the vette windshield.
It was inexpensive and takes little time to do. I did a writeup on it I will see if I can find it.
Personally I had a bad experience with Safelite, but maybe I am the odd man out. I'm sure they can do the simple chip repair efficiently, but they replaced the windshied in my Jeep twice. They used a cheap glass manufacturer and it ended up cracking weeks after install. If you ever go the route of replacement, request the genuine GM part. I did the 3rd time round and gladly paid the difference.
