Default Tinted Windows in NY

Hey all,

I'm looking for a reputable place to tint my windows on my C6. Anywhere in NYC would be great, but if I have to travel out to Long Island it is not the end of the world...

I ask, because the last time I got tints was on my maxima over 5 years ago - and they screwed up a defroster line or two...

I don't want the same mistakes on my vette..

If you are in NY and have had your Vette tinted, post up and let me know what you thought of the job, and where you got it done!

Thanks!

Funny I was looking for a good shop as well... Either they are cheap and in a few months the tints start fading.... Or they are ultra expensive and I'm not sure if they are any good?? I think I'm going to try a place in great neck... Northern blvd, across the street from morton's steakhouse. It's a detail shop along with a car wash. I might do it this coming weekend. Will update you if I end up getting it...

I went to that place a couple of years ago. I forgot their name. I definitely wouldn't go back. When they were tinting the front windows of the TBSS I was driving at the time they ripped the tops of the door panels off the top of the doors to get the tint all the way down on the window. I had all kinds of noises coming from the the panels after that and they cracked the bezel around the door handle on the pasenger side. What they should have done was taken the panel off completely or done what most shops do they squeegee the tint down into the door. I am trying to get the phone number of an awesome tinter who has done numerous Vettes and is going to do mine as soon as I can make the arrangemennets to get to him. He goes by the name of JIMTINT on the LS1GTO forums. He has also done numerous cars for my son flawlessly.

That sounds like a good place since they do all the above highline cars.... but going to NJ just for tints... Hmm not sure on that!

I traveled from L.I. for all 3 cars. Good customer service work with appointments only and no complaints with the cars or workmanship. Edison is not that far from NY.

I guess Saturday turns out to be good, then I will make an appointment with these guys.... I guess the car coming out ok is what that matters more than the distance traveled at this point!! Seems like tinting the rear window could be a pain in the neck....

Thank you for the recommendation....

If you're willing to just come over the GWB just a couple of miles, I cannot stress enough how good 'Top Of The Line Tint' in Clifton is.

Phil has done both my Lambos, and my Z06, and I haven't seen a better job done ever.

He's also done my windshields so well, you cannot tell there is tint on it...Looks like factory.

Top of the Line Glass Tinting

He's a great guy, and IMO there is no one better.

That is a very comforting knowing that you trusted your Lambos with this tint shop.... One quick question...are these guys good with their appointments or do I have to go there and wait for them to start working on my car? I hate to spend a whole day in NJ for tints.... the only way to get me to spend time in NJ is if I am at the track.... LOL

Just explain to him your plan...Drop it off...Head to the mall for a couple hours and then come back and pick it up...

I will say this...Phil LOVES to talk, so if you're there...It may take a while...

But I like talking to Phil...He always has something funny to talk about, so I don't mind.

Got my tints at a local shop today in Brooklyn. I went with 20% tints. It took a little over three hours to do and the back window took two hours itself (I requested one piece of tint, and the dot matrix at the top was tricky)... I'm glad they spent their time with it though it really looks great.

I'll get some pictures this weekend at the local meet!

Nice.... Where in Brooklyn did you get the tints done and what did they end up charging you? I would love to get it done as well before this Sunday.....

The place was called "2 Hour Auto Glass" and it was $250 cash (this seemed a little high, but again, they spent a lot of time and it's warrantied)

How much do each of these guys cost to tint up your vette? I just want something that don't peel off like you see in so many cars on the road now and not to get ripped off either...
