Default Mile runs?

Anyone know of a mile run anywhere in the NJ area? I'd love to try one, but never hear of any around here.

Maxton Mile. A friend of mine had a C4 record there.

I pretty sure hotrod magazine sponsors one on the east coast. Can't remember where though.

I checked into them and you need to be certified to run fast and your car needs to have a lot of safety equipment. Even Dougs vert needed to add stuff.

It would be great.

I would love to do one of these but I don't know if I could do it with my gearing. 6 speed, 3.90's, and a 6k redline (stock cam). Anyone know what a stock C5 would do in the standing mile? I trap 115 in the 1/4 but IDK what that would equate to in the mile. I need a cage too I believe for the mile?

I never heard about the stepped up safety regs. I thought you could just sign a waiver, slap on a helmet and have at it. Oh well, maybe one of these days someone will rent an airport and let us play.

We have any abandoned airstrips near us?
I cant think of any... I know why, because if there was one, its now a big housing development!

That would be awesome if someone knows of one in or near Jersey!

If you want to go fast, and dont want to install safety equipment then you need to go to florida. I just did www.MileMarker-1.com and it was a blast !

This one would be awesome if it wasnt that you would need a full cage.

Hmmmm... Maybe Ill go check that out this week. We need one with very little loose rocks/pebbles on the runway so we don't mess up our paint and under-bodies... Do you have a cross street or landmark because I dont know where it is?

There would be a lot of interest in an event like this, if I can do anything to help let me know.

Is this the airport? It looks like it is in good condition!

Update: Just found some pics from 2006, the runway is 2,159' long!
Here is a cool website that has a bunch of abandoned airports in NJ: http://www.airfields-freeman.com/NJ/Airfields_NJ_E.htm
Slight Problem:

At 2,159' long just go to E-Town and keep going after you pass the 1/4 mile for a little longer

2159 is 4/10 of a mile. Not enough to make it worth while.
