My Bully needs surgery. Apparently he has some damaged ligements in is right rear leg and has been limping for a week or so. Had him looked at today and the Vette (vet) says surgery will give us a 90% chance of the leg healing vs. no surgery giving it a 15% chance of healing.
He is only 15 months so this is a tough pill to swallow for us :( :cry :(
Sorry to hear that. My yellow lab has had 2 operations - one on each leg for patellar luxation - the joint would just come apart when she ran. First one was at 9 months, the second a year later. She turns 2 tomorrow, and has healed up perfectly. You wouldn't know the difference if you didn't know from beforehand. Dogs are pretty resilient. You'll be glad you got the surgery done. It's tough when they're rehab-ing, but it's worth it in the end. :seeya
Sorry to hear that E. Pets are like one of the family. Should turn out alright. Pets at this point have better medicine than people did 20 years ago. He should be fine. Best wishes.
Since we are talking about surgeries. I may need my second hip replacement this spring. WTF, new Z06 and vette weather on the horizon and it looks like I may be layed up for 6 weeks. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
And I am only 42, not in the 60's or 70's like you would expect. My advise for all of you is be CAREFUL when taking prednisone for anything.
Sorry to hear about your pup. Its amazing how attached we can become attached to our pets. Like another family member.
Duke should do fine, especially at 15 months.
Keep us posted.
When my dog was only 2 she tore ligements in her rear leg. the vet tried to convince Jill and I to operate. Pebbles limped for about a month and started walking better. We decided not to operate. She is 12 years old now and has no limp and runs around pretty well. She doesn't jump up on the bed very well but it has never slowed her down from running, walking and chasing Billy :). Maybe a second opinion is in order?
sorry to hear that. i am assuming that bully is a bulldog??? anyways i have 2 cocker spaniels that have leg problems and its really sad that they get hurt jumping off of a step or a chair. good luck, give him lots of doggy cookies to make him feel better.
:( to hear about this - hopefully all will go well .. on a side note - my parents have a 3-legged cat - the cat lost the leg when it was kicked by a horse :(
