Well, after a fun filled Corvettes for a Cure and dinner at Ted's afterwards (then shopping at Wegmans) yesterday, I got up today at 0830 (actually very good for me!) so I'll see Y'all sometime in the future.

What a great time yesterday.
Centralia wasn't much too see, it's mostly all gone.
Just a grid of streets left.
We did about 350 miles of PA back roads.
I'll post my pictures this evening

Here's where 60 goes through Centralia.
Hanging out at what used to be the Centralia America Legion!
No expense spared on the memorial!
Time capsule.
Parked on a ghost town street
Centralia's tour guide, selling souvenier chucks of coal!
Headed up to the dump site where the fire was started some 48 years ago
To the left is the cemetary, to the right the dump
Hard to tell but from a hole or crack in about the middle of the picture smoke was still coming out of the ground
Interesting shot of all the windmills east of the town
Nice loop of PA!
Thanks to Walt for mapping out some great roads!

it's funny, the shots of the streets look like so many others in the middle of nowhere, till you stop and remember there used to be an entire town there, people, stores, homes.....

I still can't believe that in these days of modern technology we couldn't put a fire out. Hell, we have a whole ocean of water within a hundred miles of Centralia. (maybe it's just me?)

Nice shots John! Wish I had read up on the story of the town before we went rather than after. Pretty interesting history. I threw some pics up on FB
