I wasn't there but my son-inlaws uncle was. According to him some guy with a Mazda that supposedly had an LS motor conversion, remote started it! Then as it started moving he managed to hop in it and went for a swim. Thankfully he swam out of it. I heard he took out a bike and possibly sideswipped or hit another car. Supposed to have been no injuries. Again this is third hand info.
I heard it was an LS-1 powered RX-7; hit 2 bikes and sideswiped a late model Shelby Mustang. He landed in an empty slip that is usually occupied by a charter boat. Third hand information, so not necessarily 100% accurate.
#1 No injuries - that's good.
#2 Some folks going to be pissed off about damages - not good.
#3 That guy's conversation with his insurance company will be interesting.
Hopefully the police won't over react to an unfortuante accident. I made it to the gathering at Oak Beach once and hope to get to Captree sometime.

When I read the article that is the first thing that popped into my head. He had a manual trans, left it in gear and had a remote start that he used. Not sure about NY but I believe in NJ it is illegal to have a remote start in a manual trans car.
