I'd really hate to have my first carlisle rained out... just trying to stay optimistic!

It shouldn't be a rain out, just scattered t-storms predicted for Thurs, Sat and Sun at the moment. If Irene travels up the coast faster than expected, then look out.

I just checked WGAL's forecast (Carlisle tv) and they're saying
Thurs. 84, humid and showers
Friday 86 and nice and sunny
Saturday 84 with increasing clouds
Sunday 82 and "Irene?"

National weather service has us at thunderstorms Thursday, rain Friday and Irene Saturday and Sunday.

So flip a coin.

What really sucks is that I'll be driving Thursday and the car will look like crap when I get there. And no place to really clean it up.

On another forum someone said they have hoses and a place to wash your car there. Being Carlisle I'm sure you could find the stuff to wash it.

There is a clean-up area with hoses set up just inside Gate 3. Bring some cleaning products, and you'll be able to wash down the Vette.

Not to worry (I hope). Carlisle's weather comes and goes quickly, so showers can leave as fast as they came. It's also known to be very hot, but in recent years I've experienced somewhat cooler temps. We bring dollar store ponchos with us and there's always a large tent to gather in while the weather blows through. Not to worry (I hope!)

Tomorrow is going to just plain suck. They're calling for almost an inch of rain. Couple years ago it rained like that and we sat under our canopy with our feet in the air because there was so much water.

I have decided to just go up for the day on Friday... just cancelled my hotel room for the weekend. I'm going up with my garage queen this year on a trailer and would rather avoid any potential weather related issues.

I'll see everyone tomorrow!

Friday will be good and Saturday only 30% scattered T storms. May not even get any rain. Sunday is a different story. I'll leave Saturday night though will probably hit it on the way home.

Carlisle #30 in the books - Friday was excellent (albeit hot and muggy in the afternoon). All the best to those who tempted fate and waited until today and Sunday to attend.

The hatches here are battened down and we're in wait mode - Irene scheduled to hit MD around 5PM thru 1AM Sunday. Folks in the Carolinas and VA already getting hammered. Good luck NY.

We decided to stay here in Carlisle rather than try to outrun Irene to make it home to Boston. We are riding it out here and will follow the storm on Monday? Our hotel has quite a few electric power bucket trucks parked in the lot. Do you think they're anticipating any problems here?! Maybe we'll be damned that we stayed or damned if we left.

Hope everyone makes it through Irene without too many problems.

Where are you staying? When the big storm hit a couple of years ago, the Comfort Suites downtown, where I stay every year, was without power for hours and I stay on the fourth floor. Walking up four stairways in the dark was no fun. I was in Carlisle yesterday but today I'm writing this from the comfort of my home, waiting for hopefully nothing to happen.

Looks like you will better off in Carlisle. By looking at the projected path Boston will be harder hit. I left this morning to go back. How was the turn out Today?

Lower turnout today but I think a lot of the day trippers stayed home. Came off PA turnpike from hotel about 7:45 and breezed right into Gate 3, which wasn't the case Friday.. never did that before. Weather, as noted was great Friday, overcast and humid today. I bailed in afternoon after canceling hotel, was clear weather back towards Philly until Morgantown, then hit rain, suspect the Parade didn't happen, but don't know. Some vendors were packing up and bailing or finding storge for show cars.
I got a good day and 3/4 in, would have liked to gotten the full 3 days in but saw a lot of great cars and friends and made a few new ones. Hell, even a short stay is better than nothing . Will be there next year, as always.
And if you haven't seen the Quest movie, it is outstanding, really excellent. Well worth the money and supports the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation.
