How many were at Corvettes@Carlisle during the tornado two years ago? I was and it wasn't pretty.
It was bad! My 6 week old Z06 almost got hit by a kamikaze shopping cart that came flying across the street about a 1/2 hour after we left the fair grounds. It was moving fast enough that the damage would have been severe. My condolences to the folks that did sustain serious damage to their prize cars!

I was there and thank God for NASCAR because I was going to stay for the parade but I decided I wanted to leave to watch the Bristol race so I left and missed the storm by about an hour.
Went to Carlisle yesterday, Friday. Weather was outstanding (albeit hot and muggy in the afternnon). Attendance was definitely down a bit, especially vendors but it was a great day for the vetteophiles. Thoughts and prayers to all those vendors and Carlisle staff who were planning to stick around through Saturday - this storm is huge folks!!!!!
To Gene Culley, Patrick and the guys at GMPARTSHOUSE, as well Ray and the guys at TOPFLIGHTREPRODUCTIONS, a special good luck in your return home.
NOTE: To all those that rented the electric scooters: GET SOME LESSONS!!!!!!! My wife and I were almost run over twice by those things! Hopefully, they drive their Corvettes way better.
A parts vendor told told me nobody was buying, he called it a T shirt crowd . I think I will take a brake for a few years.
No one has been buying at any of the shows this year. The economy has everyone being "careful".
The crowd was way down, as many people chose to stay home and protect their property from the storm, or were afraid it to get caught in it at Carlisle. Considering how few people actually seemed to be walking around, I was surprised by just how much I did sell. I didn't think it was a "T shirt" crowd. I felt that the people who did show up, chanced the weather, because they wanted to buy parts. There just weren't many of them.

There are Corvette owners that are garage queens/trailer queens, and then there are owners that wouldn't miss Carlisle ever despite the given that their pride and joy WILL get rained on (or worse!) yet still attend year after year. The Wife and I have been doing Carlisles since before there WAS a Corvettes at Carlisle, and the itinerary was only a Spring Carlisle and a Fall Carlisle that was either the week before or after Hershey. When I was much younger I'd walk every row, and look over the stuff in every spot (in the mud/rain, up and down the hills of Hersey (for the Fall event) Thursday through Sunday). I'm older than that now, and thank God and the Millers for what Corvettes at Carlisle has evolved into (no scooters for me thank you!)
I had a great time, just had to compress the normal 3 days into 2. Was kinda nice to have the smaller crowds, made it easier to stop and chat with friends as one walked around and spend more time at the vendor booths.
I will say that the scooter people are getting a little out of control, they need a recording "watch the car please" to let you know they are sneaking up behind you, driving them like they do shopping carts on nursing home day at the Acme.

I have Planter fisciatus ( or how ever you spell it ) in both of my feet and they were killing me after a couple of hours Friday and just started to feel a little bit better today. I would rather be on my hands and knees then rent one of those scooters.
What surprised us most about the "walking-challenged" in their scooters was the fact they semed to have absolutely no problem whatsoever walking about the vendor booths and food court. A true miracle I tell 'ya. Guess what they say about the modern Corvette demographic really is true and why the cars are now more like GT cruisers than sports cars:
While not a senior as I am in my 50's, I bet I have spent more on just wheels for my Vettes than many "juniors" have on their cars, including the purchase price and their superchargers, and lambo doors.
I know many a "frugal" senior that pays in cash for their 2nd or 3rd Vette.
So if that's "Frugal", I hope to get and remain there myself thanks!

I stopped by your booth on Friday, but you weren't there and I was running out of time. I told one of your colleagues to tell you that "someone from the Corvette Forum stopped by", and as I walked away, I realized that was about as useful as saying "someone who likes Corvettes stopped by".
Funny thing about the "t-shirt" crowd comment to me is that I WANTED to buy some t-shirts, but that was the only thing I couldn't find! Sure, we saw the ones in the buildings, but they were all either show oriented or C5/C6 oriented, and I wanted C3 themed stuff.

Plantar Fasciitis: an inflammation of the Plantar Fascia located on the bottom of your foot. I struggled with it for about 15 years, and saw numerous doctors about it, but never truly beat it. About 2 years ago, my boss was struggling with it, and just said "Fork it, I'm wearing black running shoes to work and I don't care what anyone thinks about it." Within 6 months, his was gone. Guess what I did next? I said "Fork it......" and within 6 months, mine was gone and hasn't been back. Just something to keep in mind.
I really feel for the pre-C5/C6 owners. I can't remember the last time I saw a picture of a pre-C5/C6 Corvette gracing the cover of Corvette Magazine. Bum wrap for sure.
