After taking my Vette to the track this weekend and making a total rear-end of myself from the starting line to the 1/8th mile mark, how much could my quarter mile times improve with roughly a 1.8 second 60' time. Here's what my time slip looked like:
60'...........2.376
330..........5.938
1/8..........8.732
MPH.........88.53
1000.......11.090
1/4.........12.835
MPH........117.21
I saw a post in the kill section of a Viper VS a BPU Supra and my 1/8th mile times were about 1 second slower than both. I was really hoping for a 120+ MPH pass. Both the Vipers and the Supras 1/8th mile MPH were about 4 or 5 MPH higher than mine while our 1/4 mile MPH were equal. My best MPH was my second run at 118.xx. Is it possible for my 1/8th mile MPH to increase to 93,93MPH with a better 60' time? If so, I'm assuming that my 1/4 mile MPH would also increase by that much. Is my thinking correct?
Re: Question for drag racing experts (QuickSilver97)
Basic rule of thumb applies here. For every .10 you drop in 60 foot, you can expect to see a .15-.20 drop in ET. There are variations of course, but its a good guideline. You pulled a 2.3 and went 12.8, so with a 1.8, your time would have dropped to anywhere from 11.8-12.1. Now about your MPH, usually some wheelspin will net you a higher MPH, but traction will net a slower MPH. For example, if you were to have dead-hooked and got a 1.8 short time, your 117-118 trap speeds may have gone to 120 simply because you spent soo much time spinning down the track. But, if you had a 1.9 short time and went to a 1.8, your MPH may have gone down.
I agree the better 60 foot time will give you a better ET but not usually better MPH. Sometimes you will lose a mph or two with a better 60 foot time.
Agreed, but with 448 rwhp, your MPH should be around 120+. I think the reason you didn't get that MPH is because you were probably shifting the car real easy so as not to ignite the tires too much, especially your 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Pre heads/cam I used to run 112mph on street tires every run, that jumped to 114 with drag radials. I think the reason is I could finally powershift and get traction, thus boosting the car ahead, and increasing my MPH. Question for you, at any time when you were spinning down the track, did you ease up on the throttle? If so, that would explain your MPH. As for your ET, I'd say mid 11s should be very possible with some drag radials, or better yet, ET Streets. The 60ft isn't the only place you'll gain ET, and you'll gain almost a second from just a better 60ft. Think about every time your tires spun from the 60ft point up until that 1/8mile point, and how much faster you would've gone if it was hooking that entire time. :yesnod: There's definately a lot of potential in that sweet car of your's, have fun extracting it.

Nat, with your setup, you should be in the 11's. I know two other guys with your setup, neither have hit the 11's yet, but mostly due to lack of traction.

Are these the two guys that are in the Carroll Supercharging catalog? I can't remember thieir names off hand. Something like John Rubio and Charlie something?
Re: Question for drag racing experts (QuickSilver97)
Is there something I can do to the suspension to make it hook better? Damn, it's amazing. I take my car to the track one time and the drag racing bug has bit me hard again! If I totally gut the interior to make it lighter, will it run better?
