Maryland owners
Hi all
I'm trying (again!!) to track down my dad's old car. It's a '79 vette, VIN #1Z8789S417678. Originally white with black interior, standard L48 and auto trans.
Car was bought new in NJ, and got sold in Delaware sometime around '87 and went to a buyer in Maryland.
I just did a national title search on the VIN #and the search comes back as the car is still titled in Maryland and was last titled or renewed recently on 11/16/11.
If anyone in MD knows this car I'd appreciate any information.
Thanks!!
Barry

Not too many '79s in my neighborhood, but I will keep my eyes out at shows!!
BTW, how do you go about doing a national title search on the VIN #? I would love to find the first vette I ever drove!!

Thanks Wayne!
I did the title search at this link, I came across it from another thread where someone else was also tryingh to track a previous owned car down.

I punched in the VIN and it came up with a result than for $4.95 you can purchase the report. All it tells you is if it came up with results on the VIN, if so what state (it does a multistate search), and the title info of what state, issue date of titles, and odometer reading at time of title info.
My report shows historical title info in 5/4/95 with 66,823 miles than current title information very recently again just a few weeks back on 11/16/11 with 81,000 miles.
The report will NOT show where in the state the car is, no owner names, addresses, etc
but just knowing the car is recently titlled and in what state is an improvement over knowing NOTHING, at least I know the state the car is in (and it's a state close to me!) and that the car is still currently titled and therefore most likely running. This is good to know rather than ending up chasing a car that has been sitting rotting away in a junkyard for the last 20 years...
